I know this is late but I was in Rio the last week of November and beginning of December before heading to Angeles.

Sure it's possible, for example you can stay in Copacabana at the Marriott hotel or the Pestana hotel, both are good hotels with nice pool on roof top and breakfast and restaurant and bars. Either hotel is within a few blocks of termas Monte Carlo easy to walk to and several cheaper massage places just a block or 2 more. Plus easy access to another termas in Ipanema called Centaurus and taxi to Solarium in Jardim Botanico.

During the day it is very low risk to walk around, if you find you are leaving a termas when it is dark just call uber and go door to door, this is smart way to keep low risk in Rio.

Escorts are very low risk believe me they are more concerned about you then you are of them, if you call a reputable site it's extremely low risk especially if you are staying in a hotel.
