Just to be sure I got the STD Panel tests done this week and to my surprise I got positive for chlamydia (3. 02 value) and my herpes IgM was just below the unclear range (0. 87) but in the negative. I'm shit scared for my life now. I had unprotected sex with my GF only and I'm the first one she ever got physical with.

Please give me some advise. Is it possible that the tests are false positives? Also, I'm planning to get tested again and heard about dr. Safe hands. I don't see any addresses on maps, is it reliable?

I am from Bangalore forum. I think you're getting anxious after STD panel test results, which is understandable. Though it is easy to advise, I can understand your situation, but please calm down and seek medical help as early as possible. I've Few questions:

1.) Is your IgM result equivocal for HSV-I or HSV-II or you took a combo test?

2.) Hope the lab you visited is reputed and NABL accredited?

3.) Do you have any symptoms of Chlamydia trachomatis infection?

IgM indicates a recent acquired infection, however, If you're concerned about Herpes(HSV), I'd suggest to consult a specialist doctor in Venerology or Infectious diseases and after a thorough discussion with doctor, if doctor prescribes, do a HSV PCR test (bit costly), which directly looks for HSV virus. However, I'm unsure if your IgM test is equivocal for HSV-I, they say majority of population acquire HSV-I by the time they become adults. Unless one has painful sores / blisters, in most of the cases (not always, some times it could be asymptomatic) HSV IgM & IgG tests are not conclusive.

In some cases Chlamydia Trachomatis infection could be asymptomatic as well, unless it is a drug resistant strain, it can be treated with Antibiotics.

There is no harm in getting tested at other lab also. Just Google for Lalaji's Pathology Lab case where they wrongly diagnosed HIV positive and consumer court directed them to pay 4 Lacs as compensation.

I've tried Doctor Safe Hands in Bangalore, my experience was good. I gave my mongering number and e-mail, I ensured that the lab they were suggesting is reputed and NABL accredited.
