At least I could not buy via Coinbase and found Coinbase is yet to be functional in India. Can anybody verify? Are there any recent members who bought subscription anyway?

Coinbase is an US exchange. You can't buy btc from India.

Here you can use wazirx exchange and buy btc by directly transferring the amount in INR to the person selling it through the exchange.
