According to some reports on forum, Air BnB is a much better option than OYO but I have never tried it.

If any fellow mongers have availed the facility, please let me know- I was able to comprehend below as of yet.

1) Indpendent apartments are better than room in a house or villa due to privacy issues.

2) Self check-in is possible with the building guard / caretaker- However not sure if we can book for 2 x and still check in single.

3) ID needs to be shown for both at the time of check in (If not- how does the issue of ID of the other person gets solved when she later checks in.

4) No filter in my opinion for unmarried couples or local ids allowed.

Any other points, please add. Any one wants PM, most welcome.

Need to understand how does this work.

I have used Airbnb in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. And below are my experience.

Private rooms just won't work for mongering. 99 percent it will be a room in a house where the host lives. Booking an apartment works well.

Check-in depends on the host. Sometimes they are available in person and sometimes you will get a caretaker or a neighbor give keys too. They won't care anything. Even to hosts, I usually say that I am here for some business and my friends / colleagues will join later, wife's flight is delayed she is coming from Kolkata or something. As long as you are casual they don't mind. I usually pick properties where the host has said that they are available only over phone. This information will be available in all profiles or you can find out by chatting with them even before booking.

No host has asked me for ID. My ID (passport) is uploaded and is verified by Airbnb. And it will ask only your ID irrespective of how many guests you are booking for.

If the place you are visiting is comfortable in all aspects the hosts will usually be willing to give it next time for reduced price to save commission. This is very normal.

I usually make sure that I clean up drinks, protection etc. Before I leave and trash it myself. This is just to play safe. Remember that few bad reviews by host will lead to other hosts not accepting your booking request next time. I have used Airbnb with family many a times. So most of my reviews are about me coming as family and good words about me and family.

Few points:

Don't expect the bed and linen to be hotel quality always. Many cases it will be sub standard and will give a home feel.

You might end up with nosy neighbors in some apartments. Individual houses are best but will be usually expensive.

Short check outs will raise eyebrows so try to handle it accordingly.

Smoking is a big issue in most houses. Some have balcony access. Many don't.

Mostly, the price will come closer to renting a 3-4 star hotel if you are taking a whole house. In a good hotel, walking in a decent girl should not be an issue. I have checked in mostly together but have sneaked through a few times. I was very sceptic about this a while ago so still play safe.

One good thing is absense of CCTV in airbnb unless the host has it. But then this is not a major thing if things move smooth and normal.

How is spa scene now? Is it back to normal? Do you guys advice venturing spas again, mainly the tried and tested ones.

I called couple of my regular spas and they said that everything is normal and nothing is there to worry about. I know they would call no matter how the situation is, that is why I am taking advice of forum members.

In Bangalore, I had booked an AirBnb Apartment of some guy for 2 days. The whole apartment was mine so I had brought in 2 WGs, 1 girl from Indonesia and another Himachali along with my other guy friends.

So this is the best option to do. Never go for hotels and Oyos, too much hassle and risk.
