As I predicted in my previous post, new measures have been introduced at the Hungarian borders. However, I was expecting something more sober. The decision in the form it was taken is now widely considered as controversial, incoherent, incompetent and disproportionate (and I've only listed here some of the printable comments), because on the one hand it does not address the indeed alarming data and tendencies on the Covid front properly, while generating serious and unnecessary side effects at the same time. Any deeper analysis of what happened would lead us to the dirty fields of politics, and of course it cannot be reduced to just one reason, but the main clue behind it is yet another xenophobe campaign to drum into the heads that if and when anything is wrong in Hungary, it must come from abroad and caused by foreign actors. But this is happening in a situation when even the government's own experts agree that less then 10% of new Covid cases in the country can be traced back to any foreign source, either directly or indirectly (in fact, all experts agree that the hubs of infection in this new wave have been events where many young people meet, so big summer parties, weddings, sports events, freshman camps etc.)

Visually the big idea was demonstrated in propaganda outlets on a map with the tiny green island of Hungary in the middle of the ocean of dangerous and threatening red countries, indeed a tragicomic picture. (And even if some random and discretionary exceptions have appeared since then about who can still enter the country under certain conditions, it does not make the picture any brighter in my view) However, it seems like a typical "overshoot the mark" situation: the information page of the Consular Services for Hungarian citizens looked like this on September 1st, simply putting all countries of the world on the red list, which has serious legal consequences, with immediate effect, for every single Hungarian citizen who is abroad at this moment (just to mention one: travelers insurances of all Hungarian citizens abroad got invalid by force majeure): https://alfahir.hu/sites/default/fil.../konzuljo1.jpg.

Now the impact of all this on tourism and related industries in Budapest is obvious, and we can speak about panic mood in the already seriously wounded hotel industry of the capital without exaggerating; all that their representatives could say in a recent report was "We don't know, let's hope (the new measures) won't last long". And I expect that this situation will maintain and even strengthen the tendencies of the past months in the sex market as well, which, by the way, may not be that bad for locals and for the few foreigners who are still in Budapest (provided that they stay here, because only in my circles I know about two guys who were recalled by their companies for uncertain time this week, who had been living permanently in Hungary before that, including the past six months as well), but of course that will not help out most of the readers in this thread, who are not in, an cannot come to, Budapest. Anyway, that's it for now, and I'll try to continue from here the next time.

I managed to enter today. Lots of checks. Have to do a test tomorrow and a 2 day quarantine, then I can venture out. I'm in XI, any pointers on decent places to try out. Or if anyone fancies a beer.

EL: not that easy, I was at Nickelsdorf this morning, the boarder between Austria and Hungary, the controls are very strict and the police can decide to let you in or not, may be if you arrive with plane it is more easy. There were some French cars even they were showing some valid papers, business invitation, they couldn't enter. Even Hungarian people coming back have to stay 14 in quarantine at home.

EL: for so many years Hungary and Budapest are not the good place to monger, but like every where you get some opportunities with half pro, just be aware that many escorts have a kind of pimp or protection, very easy to get cheated also a lot of gypsy girls around obviously they are not bad but don t expect GF experience. From Semptember 1 foreigners will not be alowed to enter Hungary. I am not glad about this decision as many foreign guys have sent me private messages asking me to help them in Budapest. However, at least cheap individuals who are praising fake locals / fake Hungarians will stay out of Hungary. One thing is sure, Hungraian working girls will not be missing guys like that. There will be plenty of Hungarian clients for them. It will be still possible for guys from America & other countries to met porn stars / Hungarian elite girls in Belgrade.
