He is collecting info to potentially file a lawsuit against the person, quite possibly a member on this board, whose spreading these false rumors. You should not be spreading these false accusations, unless you can provide details like a link to the arrest.

1. I am not spreading any false rumors. The language I used clearly indicates I am sharing something I heard.

2. Nothing in my report, or the follow up reports can in any way be used to identify the alleged perpetrator, unless he has been arrested and there is a news story about it.

3. The report serves a purpose to warn people about the sort of behavior your friend allegedly enjoys.

If you or anyone else feels that warning mongers against committing acts of violence in Medellin is wrong, so be it. I will not budge from my belief that mongering should be safe for all parties.

As for the lawsuit, I would love to ne in the courtroom to hear that one.

Apparently, a monger known to frequent Medellin was arrested at the Bogota airport on Tuesday. His passport was confiscated and he will spend 2 months in jail before being deported. He will not be allowed to return for 5 years.

Allegedly this guy liked to tie up hookers and beat them. All good, up to a point. However, he beat them bloody and at least one ended up in the hospital.

There was someone a few months back talking about beating up hookers if they gave him any problems. It would appear that's not a good idea.

I've walked on 70 at lots of different hours. Never was robbed. But I can see that it could happen. I don't particularly feel unsafe there as there are usually lots of people around, even into the early morning, but still, it's very possible. I saw a guy chasing another guy with a machete in the middle of the day in with lots of police and people around. An off duty army guy took it on. And sorted it out.

It's a percentage game. It does not mean one definitely will get robbed. It is just the percentage of being robbed is higher. The bad guys can work as a team and move around in busy places so it is not that easy to spot until you become a target. They come, they find a target, then they move on to another place.

The scammers also want to move the conversation elsewhere ASAP. I do not use SA, but it is the same thing on Cupid.

SD has to pay in order to message on SA but it is free for SB to message so most scammers are SBs. I also don't reply to messages initiated by SBs and that pretty much filters out most of the scammers. I don't always send my number on first message. I do it sometimes when I am lazy and I don't think it is effective either.

I have seen people using Telegram over whatsapp because supposedly it is more secure. Skype has a built in translation feature which is nice, and you can use it to get a different phone number or you could use google voice if you want.

But I have never done it and I do not know why I would. I guess if you are married something could be done, but yeah, I do not get the paranoia either.

The location of your home would not be difficult to discover via that number. That doesn't necessarily matter but we all need to aware.

I keep an anonymous cheap walmart tracfone at my home and pay about $100 per year for service. DUO is about the largest generally available. You can find Durex comfort if you shop around a lot. I always stock up on condoms and shoes to bring back. Shoe size 48 (US 13) is considered freakishly big in Colombia.

Shoe size 13 literally doesn't exist let alone size 12 for that matter in Colombia unless your at a specialty store with higher priced shoes. I needed to buy some waterproof size 12 hiking boots and had to go to a CAT store in a mall to find size 12. As far as condoms, well good advice to bring them with you as the larger sizes like Trojan Magnums aren't sold anywhere that I'm aware of.

And I'm planning to go after midnight, with just enough money for the taxi, if not any, without my phone, so they will have nothing to rob.

I want to see if it's so dangerous like people say, because I'm sure it's not. They do rob, for sure, but if you don't have anything to rob, they will not rob you anything. During the day there is a LOT of police, and I have spoken with a policeman who told me they are there the entire night. Of course the night is much worse en El Centro, but it's not the Far West.

To be robbed on La 70 you must be dumb, really. There are places in Italy, and not even in the South, much more dangerous than La 70. I never felt unsafe, and I have been walking at 2 AM in the night. I went to la Mayorista at 1 AM.

Your post begs the question how will a thief know whether you have anything of value on you unless they confront / assault you and go thru your pockets.

And cruising around EL Centro after midnight is not a good idea. Just hang around the Veracruz Church at that time and you will see what happens to you, and it won't be pleasant.

As far as downtown, I've been there after the metro shuts down and all the visible police leave. That was not fun. Zombie land. Everyone is a target at that time of night unless you are a zombie too. In which case you are probably still a target.

You can get robbed anywhere. A gun in your ribs, a knife at your throat. Even in the best parts of the city. I know people that have had it happen. And know of one that died trying to defend his "stuff". On Poblado Avenue in broad daylight.

It's not about being paranoid, it is about being careful and not trying to be a hero if you have an alternative.

Usually the phone number request is to move you to some other platform, such as Google Hangouts. They are limited on the scamming they can do on SA or whichever site.

However, with some websites, they can spoof your number then submit a change password request, provided they have your user ID. Mostly sites are using your email to notify you if anyone changes info in your account.

Just get a virtual number like textnow linked to a throwaway email. Use that number for all your down low activities, use a fake name.

I'm not sure what makes Facebook too annoying, especially if price really isn't an issue.

It's a simple process. While you're waiting for your trip, start building a list of chicas on Facebook. You can spend 10-15 minutes a day adding to your list. Unless you are starting your trip in the next 2 weeks, you can easily have 100-200 contacts before you go to the airport.

No need to send any messages or get into any involved conversation until about a week before your trip. Any girl that messages you, keep it simple. If they do message you it will probably be something like "Hola, Como ests" (Hello, how are you?)

You can reply with "Bien. Why tu? Estar en Medellin pronto why quiero verte." (I'm good. How are you? I will be in Medellin soon and want to see you.).

You can add in a few more pleasantries, but there's no need to get too involved. Later on you can talk price and details. My negotiation tactic is simple. If she quotes higher than I want to pay I respond with "Siempre pago. " Followed by my price (I always pay). Other people go back and forth over price. Your choice.

Then it's just a matter of day and time once you arrive.

I made it down to COL. Staying with some friends. I tried out the condoms but it was too small so it wouldn't roll all the way down to the base of my Mann shaft. Which brand and make of condom is a larger size. Because the boxes don't really specify the length of the condom.

Also be careful with girls who just post 1 or 2 pictures. Sometimes a person can look really good or completely different in a picture than what they really look like. So it's always best to ask for more pictures particularly ordinary everyday pictures To be able to see who a person is.
