Posts: 1261Cali and Medellin are also different. Last I heard Cali was more dangerous. And I would not be surprised if Cali centro is dangerous. Everyone I know from Cali has been held up at gunpoint at some time, mostly while driving, including just coming in from the airport on a shuttle bus. But, before there is an outcry. I don't know that many people from Cali, so I'm sure someone will have had a great time there, no problems at all, and spent all kinds of time in Centro.

Posts: 261I'm reading your reports with interest as I will travel to Medellin for the first time soon. As you have stated in your reports a number of times that you have taken girls back to yours can you please tell me what area you stay in and if you are using a hotel or airbnb. Thanks.

I have been "en el centro" at from 20:30 to 21:40 on Sunday. I don't know if it's because it was Sunday, but all the chicas were gone. Only the few working in front of the bars were still there. Some of them. I can say I have seen just 10% of the girls I have seen Saturday afternoon. I think the best time is between 16 and 19, after most of the chicas leave.
I have seen a monger there, speaking with two girls, maybe around 9 PM? He had a small backpack. One of you guys?
I didn't let anyone near me. I have been really careful to change path when two guys or a group was 30 meters away from me. Police was there, not many policemen, but it was there. And to be honest "el centro" was empty. No girls in Veracruz, no girls in Plaza Botero, I mean just 5. A few zombies around, real zombies, like in The Walking Dead. One was walking dragging his leg, he was like in the tv series.
Well, that's my last night visit there, but I will return between 16 and 19.

Posts: 3374I think the discussion here is a little different. Most what we are discussing here are from members who have been in the area practically all day for a long period of time. It is not like that they stay away from downtown and warn others not to come. I think the definition of downtown is far smaller for new members than experienced members so the viewpoint is also somewhat different.

Posts: 101He summed up the entire knowledge base succinctly. Took me a couple of years to figure it out.

Posts: 101I know a few Medellin girls who went to Mexico. They went to "work" there. They mostly see Mexican men. Apparently, the pay is better. They get moved to different cities. I know of a girl stuck in Mexico after the covid shutdown, but was able to return after the Colombian government allowed their citizens bank in.

Posts: 4349Prado, especially around the metro station, is the area that makes me more nervous than any other in Medellin. I actively avoid it. It is really easy to get hemmed in there with no way to escape. When I pass through on foot I keep moving at a brisk pace and always keep a building at my side. I can't ever remember moving through there at night on foot. In fact taxi and uber drivers usually detour to avoid it at night so they don't have to stop at a traffic light. That's when the stick up boys on motorcycles or guys off the street run up on you.

Posts: 1643I don't know about being robbed on Avenida 70
But I will tell you what I saw there. I was walking with Novia #2 (Maid Service) in the heart of Avenida 70, closer to the University that the Metro Station. I became aware of someone sprinting and approaching from an angle over my left shoulder, street side. What happened next was amazing. Two other guys swooped in at a full sprint, one guy knocked him down with a flying kick and then with perfect accuracy did a side kick to his head while he down, bounced his head off the concrete and knocked him out instantly. At most we were ten feet away and there no one else near. As soon as the guy was down and out, the other two guys sprinted off, from start to finish not more than ten seconds. I am sure all of them were teenagers. The downed guy had on a back pack but his attackers were not interested. Everyone I spoke to said that was an "unusual" incident for that area. My dominant thought then and now was how skillful the little dude was who took him down. Two kicks, one on a full run, the second with pinpoint accuracy. Game over.

Posts: 4349I might not know right from wrong but I do know 30 K is all anyone has to pay in Centro. If you 50 K number includes a hotel room then I'm with you. I've been to a Centro casa or two; I can't think of any that are north of 55 K on the high side for half an hour.

Posts: 4349I don't have your expertise I assume. Here is what I know. A couple of months ago I needed to send an online purchase to a relative's house. I could not remember her address and I could not reach her by phone in time to place the order soon enough to get a promotional price. I used her mobile phone number to look up her postal address on the Internet. It took five to ten minutes. I am neither law enforcement nor an operator (I assume you mean ISP or telecommunications carrier by that). If it were my imagination rather than what really happened then you would be correct.
To be fair, my relative leads a plain vanilla straight arrow life. She has no reason to take the very basic personal privacy steps to prevent me doing what I was able to do. Others who may have reason to secure that sort of information don't always bother to do it or know how to do it.

Posts: 4349That is a fair question. You can add these destinations to the list: Curacao, St. Maarten, Aruba, Spain.
