That should be no problem if your flight to FLL is on Spirit. As you get off the plane the Spirit sites are right there. The reason it works is you don't have to go thru the security area.

The only problem is if your flight to FLL is delayed. If it gets in a half hour late you will still make it to MDE if you move fast thru the terminal.

Thats cutting it very close, especially on Spirit, and if they sell you the ticket, in other words your taking another flight with Spirit and you miss your connection then it would be on them to put you on the next flight to MDE but it might be the next day.

Spirit sucks and the only time I will fly with a 1 hour layover is if it's on COPA coming from LAX to PTY and they are very much on time and used to have multiple daily flights to PTY to MDE so there would be other flights available the same day.

My advice is don't chance it with Spirit with such a small layover time, albeit they may be selling you the ticket. Also if your connecting flight isn't in the same terminal it may take a while to transit at FLL it's a hassle as I experienced flying on Jetblue in November having to go to a different terminal for my connecting flight, however I had a two hour layover.
