The reason I asked about how many pops, is because I've met some older mongers 70+ that told me in FKK they just fuck and hold back, never popping.

So they can take another girl or not need to recharge the next day? This is a mind blowing concept, to pay to fuck and deliberately not finish, but if that is what is.

Necessary as we age I guess I can live with it, it beats the alternative.

Not really so mind blowing, as you get older it takes longer to re-charge, and sometimes guys don't want to totally empty their saddlebags and be out of action for a while. Another ATM note. How much you can withdraw from an ATM varies by your bank. At Davivienda I can pull 2 million COP on my Fifth Third card, but only 400 k on my Navy Federal card. Unfortunately, Fifth Third charges 5% in fees. Navy Federal reimburses fees up to $10 month.

At Scotia it's 2,700.000 COP a day for a foreign ATM card, and 4,500,000 for Scotia customers on the Colombia side, and these limits are low by USA standards, at least for me, and are not a function of my banks, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. So if I had very low limit allowances with my banks in the USA, they would actually control how much I could withdraw if it was below the allowable limits allowed by the Colombian banks.

Sounds like in your case it's a combination, and perhaps your Navy account has set limits for foreign exchanges not based on your credit worthiness.

Long story short, in my experience, Scotia has had the best exchange rates ignoring fees charged on the other end. Just my two pesos!

I stay at the Mansion & I use one across the street from LaStrada & one at Rio Sur mall. You can pull 900 k / pull up to 5 times if your card allows it.

I posted an explanation about the exchange rate that you get when you take money out. It isn't set by your respective bank, it is set by Visa and you can look it up online. Just search for "Visa Exchange Rate".

Put in any amount you want and put in a 0% bank fee. Then the US dollar withdrawal currency and COP currency received. You will see what the rate is for that day. Bank fees on either or both ends are a different.

Matter, you'll factor those in on your own.

As to Cajeros (ATMs) here: BBVA is fee free, so is Colpatria, Banco Pichincha, Davienda. Banks that I know charge a fee are: Bancolombia, Servibanca, Banco Bogota.

Of course, with a Charles Schwab card bank fees from the Colombian bank are refunded and they don't charge a fee on their end. Which is why the smart travelers use an account with them when they travel.

There's one on Avenida Poblado North of Oviedo. There's one on Calle 33 west of UPB. There's on at San Diego mall. That's all I know of offhand.

I meant to do this a couple of weeks ago when this topic was being actively discussed, but better late than never. When I was in Medellin in Jan 2021, I took out cash several times from Servibanco ATM's. On two occasions, I kept details on the conversion rate I was declining so that I could calculate how much money I was saving by declining. On Jan 23, I saved $13 on a 900,000 peso ($259) ATM withdrawal by declining the 3,310 conversion rate. The better, wholesale rate of 3,477 I received (after reviewing my statement back in the US) represented a 5% improvement (or $13) over the rate I declined. On Jan 26, I saved $10 on a 1,000,000 peso ($284) ATM withdrawal by declining the 3,403 conversion rate. The better, wholesale rate of 3,525 I received represented a 3.6% improvement (or $10) over the rate I declined. I hope this quantification helps people realize that they need to decline the offered US $-COP conversion.

This may be of interest to some, as right now is an excellent time to travel in and around Medellin.

I went to Santa Fe de Antiqouia on Monday and stayed for three nights and brought my tomboy with me. Transport took less than an hour and a half from the North Terminal bus station and cost 18 K. I found a one bedroom apartment in a condo complex right adjacent to the center of town that only cost $ 506,000 Pesos for three nights, with beautiful pools including a sauna. The town has some excellent places to eat, including a Belgium place with excellent Hungarian Goulash and other European dishes on the menu. There's also a cool suspension bridge that crosses the river there which is worth visiting. It was a nice get away, but you need to bring a companion with you.

Friday:

Went to Centro in the afternoon. Another failure. Although, I didn't have a ton of time. A good safe location is at the EXITO on Calle 10, with the machine located outside of the entrance to the store on the second floor off the entrance from Carrea 46.

The banks that have machines at the airport have them all over the city as well. As far as "free" I'm assuming you are talking about the fee that you pay directly to the local bank that operates the ATM that you are using. That changes over time. Last year I used Scotiabank at the Scotia / Colpatria locations, but they were in the process of amalgamating all of their respective machines and locations under the Scotiabank brand (bank that owns Colpatria, Scotiabank, etc). I liked it because I could get 900 K at once, which minimizes the impact of my $5 fee at home. Exchange rates are set by your home bank I think. They all seemed to be similar no matter what ATM I used. And the ATM fee. I think Scotia had none, but not really sure now.

I don't agree with withdrawing a bunch of money at the airport, just on the general principal that leaving the airport with a lot of money might not be the best for your health. Withdraw it at safe locations (ie inside bank buildings, in malls, . Be aware of your surroundings) and in reasonable amounts that you would not mind giving up if someone pulls a gun on you.
