There is no any good deal at El Centro- I saw it in 20 years. There are only schemes, tricks, and violence. There is no reason why gringos should come to the area. Girls and other funs are available at other areas for similar prices.
Gringos and Foreigners shouldn't go to the areas where they do not belong. If you are person at the wrong place and at the wrong time, then you are inviting yourself trouble. It does not matter how strong or big you are. The people are professional criminals at parque botero and its their day and night chore to rob and stab. Usually, the gang come from four directions and two people hold you from behind and few surround you, emptying out your pockets or even stab you if you resist. Please my fellow mongers, there is plenty of fish available in the ocean, but do not go fishing in sharks area.
Parque Botero has the highest concentration of cops I have seen anywhere in Colombia. And they are in groups. Ordinary Colombians love to go there to get pictures by the fat statues. For some reason women love to give this guy a hand job as you can see there is no tarnish on his junk. Go a couple of blocks in the wrong direction and you could be in trouble.
Very well stated. I believe it was Sammy that claimed Botero at night is no worse than Baltimore. Well in the former they aren't handing out $2000 government checks or enhanced foodstamps payments. Plus there's a huge refugee population with literally nothing to lose. And as a Norte American foreigner in these areas there's a target on your back in a way in which there's no comparison in the states. Such analogies fall flat.
I think the handle charm city dave gives me the ultimate authority on Baltimore and I knew Central well (pre-pandemic anyway). I used to go to Centro all the time (during the day) though haven't been in about a year. I used to have an office in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore but haven't gone into the city since Freddie Gray. The cops in Baltimore now offer NO protection will just roll up after the incident and take a report. The thugs know it. Every other punk is strapped.
I assume you are asking about the future? Spain is not open for business last I checked. But for the sake of discussion even in normal times just the remoteness of La Jonquera would set me off, by the time you fly into say Barcelona then get a Ryanair type hot over to Girona you still got a get an hour in a bus or taxi, So then price wise those chicas pimps set the prices (yes they have pimps especially all those ones brought in from Romania, so they want like 50 euro for half hour. Ask these Centro guys what they can do with 50 Euro LOL My self I would spend a few hours with FB princess for that money and will have taken care of her taxi and all. Economics will always fall on the side of Medellin, at least between those two. A lot of board members might say that Brazil is even better.
So are you basing your analysis on experience, or just speculating randomly about things that you know little to nothing about in reality? If you've been there, I'd like information; if not, why are we even talking?
That's it exactly. It takes a certain type of person to enjoy El Centro. There should be a self-evaluation questionnaire to help people decide what area of Medellin and type of mongering best suits them.
I agree- to each their own. There were once some maps on the various mongering areas, ranging from SWs to the strip bars and all the assorted massage parlors, but the last one I had was so outdated as to be useless. I'm curious as to areas other than El Centro that has SWs- I've heard of La Majorita, but not quite sure. When I was over there all I saw was trucking companies. Anyone know of more information, or interested in combining forces to create a Google map or something?
Office Depot, Poblado. You can get it laminated there even to credit card size to carry in your wallet.
I second this! Office Depot does a really nice job. Picture and data on one side and signature page on the back. Looks very official with heavy duty laminate. I have used it a couple of time when asked for my passport in foreign countries (by cops not immigration) and they have always been satisfied with it.
There are guided tours. Maybe that is what you noticed. They bring them through the plaza, into the museum and behind the church as well as through the vendor stalls toward Ayacucho.
There's is a girl Mary (21 yo) that is doing comuna13 graffiti tours. She is charging 50 k or if you want to do the metro cable cars tour that is also available, not sure on the price. Its a legit tour. Other companies sell the same tour for 90 k. The best thing is she also sells pussy / ass after the tour. Her whatsapp is +5732XXXX410. I think she's worth it. At least to get out of Poblado a bit and see sexy ass.
She told me the comuna tour was 50 k for half an hour (30 minutes), which is a really fast tour for that area (and expensive). I paid 50 k for a guide for 3 hours. I don't know what her other rates are. She also suggested a ride to parque avri for 120, although I'm not sure about going alone with her for the first time to that area.
Have you met her more than once, or has anyone else met her yet?
Any motel recommendations in Laureles? My hotel isn't very guest friendly so unless she would be a regular I wouldn't have her come to my place.
It is not whether you can speak spanish or not. I am fluent in spanish and have visited el Centro only a few times. It takes a certain type to enjoy mongering there and I am not one of them. Not saying mongers should avoid it because I know some really enjoy it. But beware it is not for everyone and certainly not a place I would be when it starts getting dark out. There are many mongers who stay in laureles and other areas and spend less than $30 dollars a day for an apartment with AC in a safe area with security. You don't have to stay in Poblado!! Too many times fans of el Centro make it sound like you are either an el Centro guy or a poblado fan. This is far from the truth and very misleading. Medellin is a large city that offers many different places to be.

Glad that sanity is back on the thread. El Centro is very dangerous during daytime, as well as night time. I am not sure if the area is safer during day. The robbers are paying a cut to the police and local gang, so they are protected. They are well-organized, operate based on division of labor (ie. Marking, diversion, assault, etc) and just implement variety of "standard operating procedures" depending upon the situation, location and target.
In December last year, 4 gringos I knew were attacked with knives during day. Two of them always acted like a "big shot," or tough guy. Also there were a group of newbie gringos at the Veracruz area. In spite of advices from some people, they hang around on the middle of street, drunk beer (locals don't do this), talked / laughed loud to the street people and hookers, some of who looked very young. Everybody was watching them. Again, they acted like a big shot, and eventually two of them had a physical fight with a local punk. Next day, a real organization guy showed up and extorted compensation money (about 300 k peso per person) from the gringos. The gringos paid and left the area in a few days.

It's not totally clear yet on this, it was a court ruling that was made, not s decree by the Colombian Government. And I think the Government would be foolish to drop the testing requirement at this time given what's occurring in Italy and Brazil because of the new variants. The last thing anybody want's is the return to the weekend shutdowns. It's one thing to have late night curfews, but lockdowns during the day or starting early evening is not good.
Surfer, remember it was the executive branch that dropped the requirement. Then a judge said it had to be implemented. Now a higher court has ruled the lower court decision was not valid. It seems to me that the decision to have to have testing done is immediately voided.
Practically speaking though, I am headed to Colombia soon and will see. I did pay for a PCR test and got one today just to be sure, but I have a feeling it was not necessary.
