Posts: 339Actually, they're not fat, and understanding Botero is central to understanding paisas. If you notice, "El Soldado Romano" - the Roman soldier. If you'll notice, the guy has a six pack- he's not fat, but inflated with life and passion to the point of bursting. Fernando Botero is the patron saint of Medellin.

Posts: 339You need to get your head straight. Your US Constitutional rights don't mean diddly in Colombia, or any other nation on earth. They stop at water's edge. One of the problems of American tourists is they can't seem to pull their heads out of their asses long enough to figure out what's going on around them. There are places where you shouldn't go. DEAL WITH IT. Everywhere I go POS gringos like you embarrass us.

Posts: 339So if I take my ISF t-shirt off, will I be okay? Just how are you going to tell the difference between your average gringo and the ISF members- just curious? You're the kind of guy civilians imagine on this site.

This Centro Vennie could be an option, as well. Pinky's headed out to a CC soon for some shopping, if any of the Centro chicas want to join. Still carrying my Whisker-Free Chip, going on 39 years.

Puerto Vallarta is booked for April, and looking forward to working on a USA-MEX-COL trio. The apartment I got is waaaay below market (2br / 2ba / fiber optic / rooftop terrace with pool bbq loungers ocean view) at about $1200 for the month. So, I'm splurging for a nice hotel the first night, and will still be under the monthly rate for my current place in MDE. The nightclubs look to be bumping on the weekends, even Sunday. Probably going to hit Cancun and maybe 1-2 other spots before back to Medellin in late-May. Maybe when I get back, I'll have enough of a tan to blend in at Botero and snag a whisker!
A waitress from a gringo bar is now in direct contact with Pinky, and they are randomly exchanging semi-nudes. I am anxiously awaiting this one. Hoping to put it together by next week, at the latest.
I sent Coin Slot to Gusto on Friday night, but she said they wouldn't let her in because they were at capacity. Not sure if that's a common policy for newbies, or if they really were full. You would think they'd find a way to let in a couple 19 year olds. Oh fuck, as I typed that, I just remembered that I think Gusto is 21+ whoops.

Posts: 320You need to find a new bank. Try Schwab checking. They charge no fees, and re-imburse any fees charged by ATM / bank.

Anyone has any suggestion on prepaid reloadable debit card to be used for ATM machine. My bank charge $5 on every ATM transaction out of country, plus currency exchange fee that comes to approx. $10 on every ATM transaction.

Posts: 18162I just got off a Zoom Conference with some of my buddies in Centro. They said that ALL ISG members must keep their asses out of Centro or they will be coming for you. And there won't be any more of that blending in shit if they have anything to do with it. They also said that I am the only one allowed to carry and take pictures with a Galaxy Note any time of the day or night. This type of behavior will not be tolerated from any other gringos. You have been warned.

Posts: 5607There are several love motels in El Centro. Motel Eros is probably the biggest, just down the block from the Raudal corner. Hawaii Suites seems decent and there are several others.

Posts: 978Really? Like I can not figure out when a tour is being given. Why would I care about that? But the big group of mongers with the slim guy in it is getting attention.

Posts: 18162Wait a minute. Are you saying that Comayaguela is dangerous? I have never been myself, but 2 of my brothers love going to that place, the same as I love going to downtown Medellin. Maybe my family lives for danger? All of my friends and family (dad, cousin, youngest brother) that I have ever been with in downtown Medellin at all times of night have never gotten the creeps from it and thought someone was going to attack them. As has been said many times, it all depends on your style and the environments that you are used to as to whether you can handle the place. Of all the times that I have been to Medellin, only the last time I stayed in Laureles. The rest of the times I stayed right in Botero Park or a couple of blocks from it. Personally I do not see the big deal, but I will not advocate for it, nor will I condemn it. Different strokes for different folks.
