Maybe not lose money in COP term but it is difficult to say when the money is converted back to USD. I looked it up and COP has depreciated more than 40% in the last 10 years.

Personally, I prefer to buy income property in US and spend the income in Colombia.

Yes, it's a definite must to legally record and register all international wire transfers coming into Colombia, so in the future I can repatriate the money back to the USA if needed. If not done properly, the money can never be taken out of Colombia and fines can be levied on the wire transfers. I plan to keep the money in Colombia anyways, but it's always good to have an exit strategy just in case. The dollar is pretty strong right now against the peso, hope it hits 3700 when I get there.

Selling the apartment if priced properly will not be the issue, the issue will be if you want to get the money from the sale of the apartment out of the Country, and back into the USA.

If so, you will have had to properly brought the money into the Country to begin with, meaning the moneys used to purchase the property were properly identified and recorded, or you will never get your money out of the Country.

I'll be in Medellin for the first time in September. I will try this with a girl I meet in Gustos or La Isla (After I'm finished day mongering in El Centro of course jajajajaja).

You are not going by where you picked up the chica, but rather how well she knows you and likes you. I wouldn't recommend trying it the FIRST time with any chica no matter where I found her. After you get to know each other a bit, and assuming you have a good vibe (or why would you be seeing her over and over to begin with), then you can say, "All I can pay is XXX, including taxi and tip, and you can leave whenever you want. Whenever you travel use local currency. Prime example 2 days ago in Mexico a chick asked me for $25. I said I only have pesos. She said 300 pesos. 300 pesos is less than $15. If you had paid in dollars then you would have paid almost twice as much as me using that pay in dollars theory. You are not on vacation to please chicks; you are on vacation for chicks to please you.

I don't think they would be pleased to have to go exchange the dollars into pesos for a number of reasons besides the inconvenience.

Never ever ever pay or even suggest to pay in USD, never. Heck these putas, the ones that are not total scammers, the vast majority of them have never even held a USD in their hand let alone any thought as to the exchange rate, these are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

They would look at them receiving payment in USD as a problem, they would think what the hell am I to do with this, they would be lost. Now the the other hand you pull out a nice crisp 50 mil peso note and they will suck and fuck to your hearts delight as they know exactly what that 50 mil note gives them.

In my 30 fucking years of travel to Colombia, with 11 of those in Medellin and now living in Medellin for 4 years, maybe close to 1,000 chicas both pros and non-pros and civies and I have never paid in USD and I never will.

I'm heading back to MDE in about 2 weeks armed and ready to purchase a Bello apartment. I have done tons of research and retained the services of a reputable bilingual real estate lawyer. My Spanish is fluent, but not when it comes to Colombian real estate law and fine print. I'm giving myself about 2 months to get this done and will be looking at apartment complexes with pool / gym that are less than 5 years old or brand new construction projects that are move in ready within a year.

I'll be staying in Niquia and Las Cabanas neighborhoods the whole time. There's a reason lots of hot girls come from Bello and I'll be in the thick of it. Just remember, Bello is dangerous so don't come out here haha. Don't worry, I'll post chica stories to make my posts more entertaining. BTW, couple of the properties I'm looking at are below, less than 10 minute walk from mall and metro station. Around $80 k USD for brand new 3 bed /2 ba. Used and under 5 yrs old could be had for $70 k USD. Curfew or no curfew won't affect my mongering activities in Bello. Hope I can literarily own a piece of paradise! Wish me luck!

2. The exchange rate is always changing. The price of pussy is fairly stable. Are you planning on checking the current rate each time, doing the math and pulling out your small change? Or were you thinking a $100 bill would make her happy? It should, because you'll be overpaying by 80-350%.

Using dollars is not the kryptonite as some might say. A chica asked me to pay her in dollars once and she was willing to take a discount mainly because I did not want what she was selling and I told her I didn't have the pesos. If you are not giving her more than the standard exchange rate, what difference does it make? For convenience I use pesos of course, but this one time the chica was willing to take a discount for dollars and go down to Iberas and exchange them on the street, no skin off my nose. With that said, I pay in pesos and always negotiate in pesos. I really don't want to be calculating exchange rates and doing math for a sex encounter jajaja.
