Last Wednesday through Saturday, street gangs / rateros assaulted and robbed people in front of Hotel Premier and the Museum.

They punched, kicked, and choked innocent and poor people every 5-10 minutes in the afternoons. Some gringos were robbed as well. Bystanders and police did nothing and they just watched the robberies.

Better to stay in Centro where it is safe.

I am at another hotel and saw the same thing as you. Worst was the first day. Then much less and less each day because less and less people. But that first day was scary. Same day the idiot foreigner in my hotel almost got shot with a rubber bullet which he would have deserved (he does stupid stuff). Plus, many street poles with their signs attached being carried past the church on their way past the museum. Stupid expensive vandalism.

Yeah, these girls are the best actresses in the world. The first thing I did was enlarge her photo times ten and look for any signs of Photoshopping. There's never going to be a shortage of people who need money. If you're giving money, do it because it's what you want to do.

Don't go through a bunch of bullshit rationalization about how you're going to somehow profit from it. The profit you get is exactly the same, whether you're sending money to some chica in Medellin or dropping some change in the cup of the wino at the stoplight. The profit is that feeling you get that you helped someone. Either send money, or don't send money.

If you send money, you'll get asked for more money. The demand will always grow to meet the supply. It doesn't matter how much you initially send, the needs constantly expand, because it's much easier for a chica to send you a message, than to go out and earn the money.

If you don't send money, some chicas will stop talking to you. Some will think you're tacaño, stingy. That's the only downside.

In the end, it's your money. Do what makes you happy.

I was hoping things would get better / open up restaurants etc. But I read the NY Times etc. And I read here. There seems no way to know the future for Colombia. My friends say just bring them over to your place. Shat, I am looking for looking for a little GFE and had it my other trips, wandering around enjoying the country. Although it is likely that there could be further lockdown in May this has not been confirmed yet. The governor will make an announcement today and so far in the last 10 hours there has only been one important message that there is no pico why cedula in effect today Monday.

I'm planning a trip to Mexico for a departure in a week and half and was thinking of flying from Puerto Vallarta to Medellin on the 23rd if the weekend lockdowns have subsided, but who knows what things will be like in three weeks. What's beyond sad is that up until last week the COVID surge was the issue, now this bullshit has come up which could of been avoided.
