They're rentals. Do you also try to buy hotel rooms and rental cars?
It depends on the situation mate. First of all we are talking about a guy who plans to move permanently in a new place secondly no matter what a guy decides the girl has to agree with him. If she doesn't then nothing will happen. Do you know what BDSM is? I consider myself a submissive who always wants to have sex with my dominatrixes and trust me if a girl is a dominatrix it is really hard to persuade her to have sex with her. If in photoprepagos there are a thousand girls in Medellin area that offer their services there are only 3 Dominatrixes. So how can someone get what he wants in order to be happy in Medellin? Do I need a therapist for my tastes? Maybe but I also need a girl to fullfil my needs.
I don't plan to move in Medellin because I can't work from there I plan to move in Sao Paulo in 3 months. But the same goes with Sao Paulo and to be honest I thought that if someone wants to found out everything about a girl the best way to do it is to hire a PI who has the connections to find everything about someone's past.

You need to walk with confidence like you own the fucking place, and yes have awareness at all times, keep your head on a swivel, look at these punks in the eyes so they know not to fuck with you, I know this is hard for many to do, fuck these punks.
And it is not that I have any magical ninja moves rather they know not to fuck with confident people why? Because they will look for the lone, weak minded and easy targets.
I know that many of you will take offense to my words, fine so go run away being scared all the time of the dark, and simply don't venture into any areas other than perhaps the estrata 5 and 6 poblado areas.
Much love and respect to all.
The Tall Man.
Generally speaking what you say is true, before Covid. No matter where I was, on Miguel Lemos in Rio near Help or around the favelas or Lapa or Lima or for that matter in Colombia. I would stare straight at them and walk right towards them and they always shied away. Now, at least in Bogota there are a lot of guns and with the influx of millions of Venezuelans, many of who are desperate, it's a different game. Even the mayor, Lopez has spoke about the shoot first then rob later tactics of them. At one time in my life, I almost wanted one of these punks to try something so I could fuck them up and teach them a lesion. Now however with my years of wisdom I take the different approach. I stay out of bad areas, take taxis or Uber whenever possible and avoid walking ANYWHERE at night. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can fuck up your trip like being tossed into a jail in Rio or Colombia. Much worse needing medical attention in a hospital that couldn't save someone with a nose bleed. For the new guys entering this hobby always remember 'Safety First' no matter if it's a girl you bring back to your apartment, choosing the right taxi, or having a few drinks. Be safe, have fun and let's hope the riots stop and they relax the protocols.

How do you know he was drunk? It's clear in the video that guy was in a chokehold and beat to sleep. Heck who knows maybe killed. Fck you mean drunk? Centro's definitely not a place to go right now.

I am not all imposing physically, and speak limited Spanish, but have travelled a lot and know how to carry myself in foreign city.
How you "feel" in an environment is irrelevant to the matter, for as Mike Tyson eloquently said, "Everyone has a game plan until they get punched in the mouth. " That said I've done the same, Centro casa runs 2016-19. Most are so close together taking a cab would be about ridiculous. I'd think twice about doing it right now though, and definitely wouldn't in the Botero area. Each to his own and good luck.

You are wrong. You were not here. This was different. They knew there were no police around so the intensity was amped up along with their courage. Normally 3-4 guys in a group that you have seen. These groups were 5-9 and one group would join another group in chasing someone down that was about to get away. Unless you are a heavyweight MMA guy that can run, you can not beat sheer numbers. These guys had knives, wooden clubs, and throwing rocks. You need to get over yourself. You have one thing which is size. But that is your flaw because you think that scares people and that that alone will save you. Even in your prime you would not have had a chance. These guys were not just going after valuables. They were venting and going after people that they did not like the looks of or acted.

Rateros threw stones at Premier Plaza and other buildings, and some gringos got robbed. A few rateros were swinging 15-20" knives.
You should reflect about what you have been writing for years.
There are other members on this board who have been frequenting El Centro like myself for years, and I have always cautioned those who are obviuos gringos with no Spanish speaking skills that it can be very dangerous, and so have other members with knowledge and experience there. Yet there have been some posters who brag about them not having problems in El Centro and what's the big deal, but they are the ones who are not "informed" as they have made a few visits, nothing happened, hence in their minds they think it's not dangerous.
As far as reflecting on what I have written about in the past, I wouldn't change a word of it. I believe I have provided some valuable insight from my experiences there, and have actually gotten messages from other members that I am ruining the place, as more and more gringos are discovering the place. And there's some truth to it as the influx of gringos up until a month ago was because Colombia has been the only wide open mongering destination on the planet in my opinion. However, due to the current COVID surge, the protests, and the reduced police presence, El Centro right now is the most dangerous it's ever been.
A month ago it was as though the Pandemic didn't exist, there were no protests, and Police everywhere, there were tourists on tours, and more girls available then ever before. But it's been like a perfect storm with the weekend lockdowns, people up in arms over the Govenment tax proposal and other issues, very little police presence and / or enough to quell all the violence, and hence here we are in a state of Mayhem with the protesters and rateros ruling the streets.
A sad state of affairs for all.

One has to be on guard. The danger often arises when one let one's guard down. That is how I think anyway. As for danger or not, it's situational.

Aye yi yi. Where to even start? How about a giant no for hiring a PI in your example

Were you satisfied by them?
I am genuinely not wanting anyone to think I am advocating hiring PI's in general, especially to screen prepagos and El Centro skanks, jajaja.
Depends on your individual circumstances. Why are you looking at prepagos for girlfriends? That's like walking thru a minefield. Find yourself a regular girl, the kind you can take home to dinner at meet the family. She will be more loving, prob still rock your world in the bedroom, and you won't have to worry AS MUCH that she is only after your money. If a prepago is trying to act like she wants to get serious with you, 99.999% chance, she is conning you and already has a serious boyfriend who will benefit from your relationship with her. They are ALL after your money because in this culture, money equals love. That doesn't automatically make it evil all the time, but you will have to adjust to the culture in order to be happy if you are wanting to get serious with a chica.
My situation was different. I met a girl and her mother briefly outside of Medellin for less than a day. We communicated for I don't remember how long on the Interweb, at least a year I think, my time dyslexia kicks my ass when I have to think back that far. We were not hot and heavy at first. Initially, I wanted nothing to do with Medellin because I was ignorant about the renaissance of the city post-Escobar. But Catgirl was persistent and she intrigued me that she was not trying to leave Medellin, as in the examples seen on the TV show 90 Day Fiance which my family and some friends loved to rub in my face.
She eventually convinced me to come Medellin for the first time in 2019. The steps I took hiring Colombian Private Investigators and otherwise before my arrival seem crazy to me now in hindsight. The link I provided goes to a consult page where the PI company will give you a free quote, so don't ask me. I don't look at what it cost me, but rather what did I have to lose? What was at risk in my worst case scenario? For me it was a no brainer. There ARE examples of Gringos, however rare, showing up, getting kidnapped, tortured for assets and killed. I was doing my due diligence to try and prevent that from happening. I would do it again the same way, but knowing what I know now and how much fucking FUN and adventure I have had with Catgirl and her bisexual friends, I mostly get a good laugh thinking back on all the intrigue I manufactured.
If I was already here and shopping for chicas, I would rely on my instincts and intuition, but those characteristics are not a given for all people. I think it has less to do with the girl, and more about what do you have to lose? Do you have the kind of assets that would make you a target for extortion? Even that is misleading. I had a Round-eye acquaintance in Thailand, his Thai girl friend set him up and cleaned him out only after she lived with him for two years, when he finally felt comfortable enough to let his guard down. She took everything that wasn't nailed down and transferred money out his accounts on line and was never seen again. Do I trust Catgirl now or any of my regular chicas? Mmmm, yes and no. More as time passes. She never has access to any amount of my money or assets that I can't turn and walk away from without a second thought. She is not allowed to touch my computer.
Call it 'True Love" Colombian style, jajaja.

The regulars never say it is safe 24/7 or when police is not present. There was even warning about the very location where the guy was choked especially at night time.
