You are wrong on this. Colombia is traditionally a country very conservative, who always votes for the Right (sometimes not right, but they are wrong, jajaja). The Mayor of Bogota is a (good) exception.

This time, what happened is that the right-side Government approved a tax reform, which penalizes not only the poor ones as usual, but also the middle class and favours the top class. Then, the middle class got upset.

I think some consider the estrato system a socialism feature. I read somewhere that the tax hike on utilities are for above estrato 4, the the lower estrato will get money. The problem is some classes, like military, police or something in that nature, that that can afford to pay tax are exempt from the tax increase. I think many think the government are corrupt so the tax will just go to certain people. I saw a video a while back and the host pointed to a public construction project. One comment he made was the government officials didn't pocket all the money, they gave some back. On top of that, many Colombians don't pay tax or don't need to pay tax.

For mongering locations outside of Medellin close-by forget it. The ideal situation however would be to take a Chica with you and stay in either San Geronimo, Santa Fe de Anotquioa, or Guatape. All easily accessible by bus within a few hours from Medellin and I have stayed in all places and have had a great time. If you can afford it, near Guatape stay at Hotel Los Recuerdos, it's within 500 meters of the Penol and get a view room. In San Geronimo there are two very nice Hotels with pools and saunas which are fun, and several in and around Santa Fe. As far as booking the rooms use Booking.com to find the establishment you might be interested in, and then book directly thru the Hotels website, albeit some won't be in English.

Does anyone know for real--not just rumors--but facts--if the places like San Geronimo and Guatape and Santa Fe De Antioquia are also locked down with curfews and everything closed on the weekends? One of my girls is like-we can go to these places but its the same as Medellin-everything is closed and nothing to do.

I cant find any real information about if Barranquilla has weekend quarantines / lockdowns / curfews all day and night like Medellin or if these places outside of Medellin are worth going to to be able to do some things during the day. I don't care too much at night-I will just have a different chick with me each night in my room in the city (Medellin / Barranquilla) and I have a few in my stable that are ready to come with me for weekend excursions but a couple are claiming there is no point in going away for the weekend since everything is closed and you are confined inside in other places. I have messaged hotels, mongers, friends there--and it seems like nobody has actual facts or responds. Do any of you?

I know in Medellin: alternate days to vidit stores, and you can walk around outside during the weeks. But on weekends-its everyone has to stay indoors all day. The question is: is that the same situation in the small places like San Geronimo, Santa Fe De Antioquia Guatape or?

If it is the same situation--then -where is a good place to take a girl for the weekend so we can get away from the Medellin weekend lockdowns? Its frustrating (nobodys fault here) that I am having so much difficulty getting real answers. LOL. 1st world problems in the 3rd world!

If I read the notice correctly, the lockdowns apply to the entire department of Antioquia, although I think in some areas the curfew starts at 8 pm instead of 6 pm.

If you come into Medellin, you go through customs and pick up your bag downstairs. If you need to go to the ATM, you need to go back UPSTAIRS to use the ATM and then downstairs to catch a cab or the bus. I think they are near the Latam counter, and there are, I believe, three ATM machines there.

Moral of the story is do not leave Medellin airport without Colombian cash.

There is a Bancolombia ATM on the first floor. After you exit the baggage claim area, continue down the hallway and you will see the ATM. There used to be a BBVA ATM further down the hallway, but I didn't go looking for it last month.

They change the locations of the ATM's. There are two locations on the second floor, with two or three ATM's at each place.

Landing there is easy, you get off the plane, take the steps and you are right there is your luggage. Be ready, not a lot of ATMs there, and the taxis charge flat rates (not a meter like Bogota).

I can see why this is confusing. When you get off the plane in Bogota and get your luggage, there are ATM machines right there for you to use. I think there is a place to exchange money downstairs in the Medellin airport like Bogota.

If one is too concerned to go to Medellin, then Costa Rica is fine. I am not sure I'd call it a replacement, though. I do not find Costa Rican women, in general, to be as attractive as Colombianas. That said, you can find Colombian hookers in Costa Rica. You'll just pay more for sex there.

Costa Rican independents tend to be more hardcore, rules laden service with at least half demanding payment in advance. The MPs (casas) are the better value.

Are you sure that your posts were to provide information? I could be wrong, but it appears that you are writing several posts everyday because of a discontent of "real" life in your home country. Do you have good relationships, fit body, and receive attention from people?

Yes my posts are to provide information and I have been typically posting everyday. Fit body yes, I swim laps five days a week and am not overweight. Discontent of life in my home Country is an interesting question and the answer is yes, and no.

I have it "made in the shade" here in the USA, and live in a Southern California beachtown, and have great relationships with my family, neighbors, and friends. So that is the yes answer to your question.

So moving on to the "no" part, up until the second week in April I had been in Medellin since February living it up in Medellin until the weekend lockdowns started and left. Very very content and upon returning to the USA not a happy camper after two months of bliss in Medellin.

So hopefully this answers your question (s), and the question I have for you is, are you content in your "home country" wherever it is enough that you would not want to be spending time in Medellin. In other words, if you could, where would you rather spend your time?

Regardless, next week I'm headed to Guadalajara / Puerto Vallarta until the 23rd and if the weekend lockdowns have subsided I will return to MDE. And I don't think I will be discontent in Mexico as I will have a young Mexican Nympho in tow while hanging on the beach!
