The way I look at it is this, without people who session in termas, there won't be a 4 x4 for me to go get numbers from.

I paid the price that was listed at 4 x4 and of course the total also included drinks and some snacks for approx 8 hrs spent inside. Could I have done it cheaper? Sure. But then I would be running from place to place trying to find something I want. I had 24 hrs in the city which includes work and some sleep. I don't live there nor do I want to. Places like 4 x4 exist for people like me. Certain cheap fuckers on this site should be happy that people like me keep 4 x4 open so they can do their business the way they want. Similar to people who take their own snacks into a movie theatre. Everyone knows that movie theaters don't make money on the movie tickets but on the overpriced snacks. People still buy the snacks. Does that mean they are stupid? Or ignorant? Or are they paying for the convenience of having a choice of snacks on hand to satisfy their craving?

My agent, a local, also sessions inside 4x4. Why does he do that? Maybe he doesn’t want to risk being seen getting a hotel room by someone who knows his wife. He definitely can’t take the girl to his house so I am sure there are plenty of locals who do this. People in this forum need to understand that there is a market for everything and one persons advice is good for some and won’t work for others. It looks to me that (including me) people overlooked the demise of the reais. It lost a third of it's value versus the Euro alone in the last year or so. For me a game changer. I wanted to do Brasil for a long time. And now with the exchange rates there where I want them to be, my planning is going into overdrive. Time to do Rio. Kenya Uganda still curfew. Not enjoyable. Madagascar still closed. Tansania ok but overall boring. Definitely ok to hole up during the pandemic. But. Shite food. Chicas on the whole no comparison to kenyan fuck machines.

Alas Brazil it is. Flights with TAP from my European home country available from 462 Euros if you're content with hand luggage. Return that is. Hell cheaper than Africa. Hotels at ridiculous prices like 13 euros a day. Hostel in Vidigal for 8 euros. WTF. 50 to 150 reais for linda bunda negra. And ZERO overpaying tourists on the ground. What more can you ask for?? Just wondered how things are looking pandemic wise in Rio now? Desperate to break out of UK lockdown but we are only allowed to visit 12 extremely safe countries until next month at least. Have my passport ready as soon as things open up. Brazil as a whole is looking bad regarding COVID in our media but hopefully vaccinations will start kicking in soon.

Before I do eventually arrive I am hoping to reach out to the guys on the ground and enjoy a meal or two and a few beers. I will only be there for 5-6 days and want to experience as much as possible, from VM to up market termas and boates, even if I don't session there. The posts on here reflect the generous nature of the members and I already feel like I know my way around the city. The way things are going at present though, it could be 2022 before Brazil makes it onto the UK's green list of safe destinations. I can't wait!

Can anyone go over the process for entering and exiting Brazil from the US?

This is what I have so far.

(1) Going to Brazil.

*Need to take COVID-19 test beforehand (Walgreens offers a free 24 HR one, the Rapid test).

*Fill out info sheet from Brazil travel authority.

(2) Leaving Brazil to the US -.

*Take COVID-19 test 3 days before flight.

So my biggest question is. How / where do I schedule a COVID-19 test in Rio? I have no idea as to how that works and have very limited Portuguese skills.

I will be arriving in Rio this Friday.
