Posts: 7451At most if not all of the government run tourist attractions, museums and so on where a sign similar to that is posted I show them a photo copy of my O-A Non Imm (Long Stay/Retirement) Visa stamp page from my passport to show them I live here and am not a "Foreign Visitor" and I get the local Thai rate. I can't recall where doing that has failed but it might have once somewhere.

Please send him 10 usd a month so that he can take his showers at home instead of at the pool. If you really want to help make it 15 so he can turn on the AC as well. He's not really lowering his footprint by showering and using the AC somewhere else he's just getting someone else to foot the bill. This is ridiculous.

Gauge or gouge. I'd say everyone is gouged equally in Europe.

Posts: 18162I definitely expect it in the private sector that you are talking about, but I was referring to government run tourist attractions where the prices are posted. At this national park foreigners pay 5 times more than Thais.

Posts: 18162LOL. Well that is what it seems like to me. I am out stomping around trying to destroy everything in my wake, but it seems he is tiptoeing as not to disturb anything for future generations. Like how scuba diving how you are not supposed to touch anything to leave it for future divers to enjoy. But I am like fuck that, I am touching this shit!

In Europe they do not need duel pricing, they gauge everyone equally.

Posts: 1274Dual prices not a myth
I have experienced what you say to be true about the dual prices. Only made one trip to Thailand coming up on ten years ago. I Visited Bangkok, Patong Beach and spend some time on Ko Phi Phi Don. Before going over there I spent time on Thai Cupid talking to girls. We went to the mall and she taught me by sending my up to the counter to ask the price a portable speaker while she waited outside the store, than I went and told her it was 250 baht, she asked me to give her 125 baht and she went and got the speaker, so 50% mark up for the farang.

Posts: 18162LOL. There is no freaking target on anyone. What lifestyle is he professing to live? Maybe you can not tell from his posts, but MP is a very simple guy that seems is trying to leave less of a carbon footprint than most people. Should he be around there living it up like Caligula? Would that get the target off the backs of retirees?

Mfs got problems when they think he is living it up and the same mfs have problems when he is living simple. Dammit man! Make up your fucking minds.
In what day has a foreigner ever been able to suck off of Thailand? Hell, Thais can not even suck off of Thailand. They want foreigners that will spend in excess is what they want. If a mf is paying for his room and buying food then he is contributing to the economy. Do you expect him to be buying a new Mercedes Benz every month? What do you consider contributing to the economy?

I am a member of a group in facebook that only concerns itself with the dual pricing system that takes advantage of foreigners. How you and your wife of 20 years going to go to a venue and you are charged 2 different prices because no matter how long you have lived there, you will never be Thai? But it is what it is. Not my country, not my rules.

You come not after the last bum on the street, but even after the last pet that citizens own. You are a guest. Take your ass back to where you are a citizen and get your vaccine. What other country just allows mfs to come move in as Thailand does? But give mfs 1 centimeter and they want to take a kilometer. I just shut the fuck up and thank the powers that be that I am allowed to be a visitor there.

Posts: 6733Pre-COVID if Thailand had it their way all tourists would be rich people mainly from China (not those who come in on zero income tour buses). Thai citizens would freak out but it sure would benefit the economy.

Posts: 1224Well stated TC. A very thoughtful and cogent post encompassing the simile values of decency and honesty. Unfortunately there are a number of self-proclaimed "bada**es who glorify bad behavior and some unfortunates with severe delusional psychosis and are more to be pitied than scorned.
