There are protests in most if not all countries but history has shown that whenever there are protests of the magnitude of what are occuring in Colombia, the existing government is overthrown and is replaced by a socialist one. Check the Soviet Union, China, Cuba and Venezuela. When the Bolsheviks took over the Soviet Union p4p there became non existent, after many decades it started coming back but is currently suppressed. Same with China but the current suppression there is much stronger than Russia. Same with Cuba. Regarding Venezuela prior to Hugo Chavez taking over the leadership mongering in Venezuela was as good as, if not better, than Colombia; I know for sure, I visited then. After Hugo Chavez took over prostitution there has taken a huge nose dive. I was there in 2007. No tourists go there to monger, as a matter of fact no tourists go there.

I thought Chavez took over sometime around 1999 or 2000? Maybe I'm missing something here, but if the mongering was as good or better in Venezuela in 2007, I don't think you can blame the "nose dive" on Chavez.

Either your or my knowledge of history has some gaps in it. Protests (of the magnitude yada yada) don't always result in a government overthrow and when it does the result isn't always socialism. Colombia had worse protests back in the 1970's. After 50 years of civil war, still not socialist. 200 years earlier there were worse protests about 4,000 miles north of Colombia. Pretty sure that didn't end up in socialism either.

As for prostitution, it only goes away when poverty disappears. Actually, it doesn't go away even then, it just gets more expensive. Governments might make it illegal, it might be harder to find, but as long as there are hungry people, there will be women spreading for cash.

I already have Energy Living booked for 7 weeks, but will consider IBIS for a change of scenery if needed. I imagine this is an Uber-only town from the posts I've read. I do like to stroll around, but I suppose that'll have to be confined to the daytime if I intend to keep my phone and dignity.

Claro is a good carrier in Colombia. Facebook is the move in Medellin not so much Bogota. Ibis in Bogota is a good hotel and is walking distance from Santa Fe which has plenty of street action, pussy house is a good strip club and if you look up ads on miloeroticos or photoprepagos there you'll get plenty of info on casas and girls.

I think col cupid, tinder are worth it if you are staying a long time but not worth it for a short time in my opinion. You're much better off going for the sure fire working girls.

In Medellin if it's your first time I'the advise staying in poblado, more than enough girls and clubs. Most of the girls will have shit with them as far as party favors, if you ask around there's dealers everywhere.

Finally, a stupid question that I should know the answer to -- how the hell do I subscribe to this site without using bitcoin? I mentioned fortuitous crypto money already, but the 'fortuitous' part is that I sold it all at the correct time. I have subscribed before with a plain old credit card, but it feels like that's not an option anymore. Without going into details, call it dollar cost averaging because when I am spending more in one area, I am saving it in others including with girls. With that said, listen to what Tall Man wrote you. Even if you witnessed her being robbed which it doesn't sound like you did, that would be the Oonly possible way the story was legit, and guess what? I've got Energy Living booked for the entirety of my stay, but I'm certainly open to doubling up if there are other places to go that board members recommend.

I've read through about 50 pages of the Medellin board so far, but I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a specific post (or ten) that would be geared toward an absolute newbie to the Colombian scene (a newbie with about grade three-level Spanish). I'm 40, fully vaccinated, relatively fit, friendly as all get out, and love to party in all forms (any advice on how to score high-quality party supplies will be rewarded). My proclivities are geared toward the slim Asian-type, so any advice on clubs or areas that veer in that direction would be greatly appreciated. I will 100% report back on my experiences both good and bad.

First night will be in Bogota Marriott before heading to Medellin the following afternoon. I think my only question about that spot is the best sim card to last me for my 7 weeks, so please let me know if there's a preferred carrier. I'd probably stick with WhatsApp and Messenger.

I agree with you, I have seen no mention of protests at all in either El Colombiano or Vivir en Poblado, but am concerned there may be some more weekend lockdowns coming based on the infection numbers and ICU capacity.

I might only be in town until Friday and then bail out, but I hope not.

A lot of us guys here could learn from that. Sounds like it was real and I am sorry it happened to someone about who you obviously care. That's one of the pitfalls of Medellin. Colombia is the Land of Scams but at the same time, bad shit is happening to people. One of the most common scams a chica will play is "My cell phone got stolen. " I know one Gringo who was keeping a chica on the side and I think she had a cell stolen once a month. I told him by the time all her cousins had a phone for which he was paying, then the theft rate might slow down, jajajaja. But guess what, cell phone theft is epidemic in Medellin and I assume the other big cities in Colombia. My Numero Uno chica, my actual novia, had her phone stolen at gunpoint while she was sitting in a taxi. She could have made up the story to get a new one, but the no-name brand I bought her as a replacement didn't even have a scratch on it the first time I returned to Medellin almost a year later, and that was without a case! First thing I did was buy her a case, and in my mind that was sort of the acid test for proving her story was real. I know (meaning fucked) three other chicas who have had there phones stolen in the nine months I have spent in Medellin. I think stealing phones is more like the Colombian national sport, after soccer.

I sent a chica some food money within the past month and Tall Man called me out here just like we did to you. He is on solid ground with that advice and I appreciated it. But he doesn't know her or me personally, and she didn't ask for money, I based it on her weight loss I saw on an impromptu foto she sent. She was going without food and that is a foreign concept figuratively and literally to everyone on this board.
