Just to add and supplement to what JjBee62 said, there is a thread that can be found in the User Blog section of the Colombia Forum that is called "Medellin Map and List" and within this forum are two great tools the "Medellin Map" and the "Medellin Chica List". The Medellin Map is a curate special Google Map made by BM World Travel 69 (as was the list). The map shows the locations of various Casas, Strip Clubs, Massage parlors, Love Hotels, areas where street walkers frequent etc.

On my laptop and on my phone this map works in conjunction with Google Maps and I can get step by step directions, I have a Google Phone so my experience may be different from people with say an iPhone. But I have no way to know. But when I open the Medellin Map on my phone and I tap on a location or business then the name appears at the bottom, then I tap on that a red banner pops up with the name and within that red banner is the "directions" icon from Google Maps, when I tap on that it opens the main Google Maps app and I have to choose my starting location. The usual options in Google Maps are there, (except bicycle is not) Driving, Public Transport, Walking, and Ride Hailing (the only two options that come up for me in Medellin are Taxi and Cabify but of course no Uber option or Didi.

The Medellin Chica List, also curated by BM World Travel 69 , is a list of venues where mongers like to go with address, hours of operation and last known pricing. There is a suggestion at the beginning of the list is this suggestion - "To get your bearings on the layout of the city, I suggest taking the Turibus Tour. It starts at the Parque Poblado at 9 am and 1 pm. It last around three hours. Tel: 371 50 54. www.turibuscolombia.com".

Either your or my knowledge of history has some gaps in it. Protests (of the magnitude yada yada) don't always result in a government overthrow and when it does the result isn't always socialism. Colombia had worse protests back in the 1970's. After 50 years of civil war, still not socialist. 200 years earlier there were worse protests about 4,000 miles north of Colombia. Pretty sure that didn't end up in socialism either.

As for prostitution, it only goes away when poverty disappears. Actually, it doesn't go away even then, it just gets more expensive. Governments might make it illegal, it might be harder to find, but as long as there are hungry people, there will be women spreading for cash.

2007 was the period I was there when Chavez was in power and p4p was dismal. I visited Venezuela in the 70's and 80's and p4p was great then.

That's what I thought so good deal. I had a fiesta with 2 Bogotanas, ahh about 2 years ago. Hi pals, I've done a few posts in Bangkok, Cambodia, Indonesian, and South African boards -- so I'm definitely not new to our hobby. Those places are currently totally screwed, so I've set my sights on Colombia. Staying there from June 15th to August 4th.

However, my South American experience has been limited to one two-week trip to Sao Paulo and Rio three years ago. I happened to fall into some fortuitous crypto money recently so I'm treating myself to seven weeks in Colombia. I've got Energy Living booked for the entirety of my stay, but I'm certainly open to doubling up if there are other places to go that board members recommend.

I've read through about 50 pages of the Medellin board so far, but I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a specific post (or ten) that would be geared toward an absolute newbie to the Colombian scene (a newbie with about grade three-level Spanish). I'm 40, fully vaccinated, relatively fit, friendly as all get out, and love to party in all forms (any advice on how to score high-quality party supplies will be rewarded). My proclivities are geared toward the slim Asian-type, so any advice on clubs or areas that veer in that direction would be greatly appreciated. I will 100% report back on my experiences both good and bad.

First night will be in Bogota Marriott before heading to Medellin the following afternoon. I think my only question about that spot is the best sim card to last me for my 7 weeks, so please let me know if there's a preferred carrier. I'd probably stick with WhatsApp and Messenger.

I've seen conflicting reports about dating apps -- should I create a Cupid Profile for Colombia? Tinder, Bumble, etc? Seems like some folks swear by Facebook, but that has never worked well for me in Asia. Happy to try anything and everything.

I'm pretty okay with sketchy areas, so I will be able to keep my wits about me in most situations. However, I'm also aware that there's a high probability I'll run into some 'trouble' -- whether that is in the form of crooks or police (or crooked police! Does anyone have a cheat sheet for dealing with cops if I happen to have something untoward on me? Having been robbed in Bangkok, of all places, I know that the SOP is to just give your stuff over without a fuss, but I know that dealing with police involves a certain level of nuance depending where you are.

Finally, a stupid question that I should know the answer to -- how the hell do I subscribe to this site without using bitcoin? I mentioned fortuitous crypto money already, but the 'fortuitous' part is that I sold it all at the correct time. I have subscribed before with a plain old credit card, but it feels like that's not an option anymore. Due to my location, a mail-in subscription would probably not make it to ISG before 2027, so hoping there's a faster way.

1. Except for some casas and strip clubs, payment is after, not up front. A good Spanish phrase to memorize is "Siempre pago despues", I always pay after. Remember "Siempre pago", because that comes in handy when negotiating rates.

2. Rates in Medellin vary depending on where you get the girl. On the low side street girls in El Centro can be found for 30 k, about $8. On the high side night club girls in Parque Lleras might ask $200 or more. Typically, the Facebook girls can be had for 150-250 k. Tinder girls seem to be asking for a bit more. Whenever a girl tells me her rate, I usually respond with "Siempre pago" and then throw out a lower price.

3. Many of the girls insist on condoms for sex. BBBJ is pretty common with Facebook girls, more difficult other places. I've never paid extra for it and get it about 75% of the time. YMMV.

4. Facebook is a gold mine for girls in Medellin. Here's a how to guide I wrote. Just go to the original post.

5. Although they come in all shapes and sizes you shouldn't have any problems finding the body type you prefer.

6. The Colombian national ID card for people 18 and over is called a Cedula. Energy living will probably require all guests to have their Cedula. If you have a girl coming over, save yourself a headache and make certain she knows she won't get in without her cedula.

That was the infamous Colombian Trio. Lots of girls will offer to bring along another girl for a trio, but unless you specify that you expect some girl on girl action, what you end up with is exactly what you got.

There are protests in most if not all countries but history has shown that whenever there are protests of the magnitude of what are occuring in Colombia, the existing government is overthrown and is replaced by a socialist one. Check the Soviet Union, China, Cuba and Venezuela. When the Bolsheviks took over the Soviet Union p4p there became non existent, after many decades it started coming back but is currently suppressed. Same with China but the current suppression there is much stronger than Russia. Same with Cuba. Regarding Venezuela prior to Hugo Chavez taking over the leadership mongering in Venezuela was as good as, if not better, than Colombia; I know for sure, I visited then. After Hugo Chavez took over prostitution there has taken a huge nose dive. I was there in 2007. No tourists go there to monger, as a matter of fact no tourists go there.

I already have Energy Living booked for 7 weeks, but will consider IBIS for a change of scenery if needed. I imagine this is an Uber-only town from the posts I've read. I do like to stroll around, but I suppose that'll have to be confined to the daytime if I intend to keep my phone and dignity.

I was mentioning Ibis for Bogota, Energy is perfectly fine for Medellin. Didi is much cheaper than uber but you pay in cash, rappi is for food and is major key. Walking in poblado is fine day and night just be smart and don't make yourself a target.
