Have made it to Bogota after a horrendous journey from sub-Saharan Africa. Despite going business class, the pandemic made me forget just how boring and arduous flying is.

However, that's in the past. I'll be arriving at Energy Living tomorrow morning and intend to set up the apartment a wee bit with electronics and all the rest, but then I hope to hit the ground running. Despite some of the excellent advice I've received here regarding Facebook, I've done exactly zero in that regard (I intend to start today, but we'll see). I'll be at Energy for roughly seven weeks, so I hope / assume I'll make some regulars -- just got to get over my nervousness with Spanish (I'm actually not a total newbie in that regard anymore, but I'm finding the accent REALLY difficult here in Bogota -- the masks don't help). As I mentioned before, if anyone's around Energy area and has a thirst, send me a PM and I'll give you my local number (I assume that's allowed in PMs).

I guess this post has exactly zero value as far as information is concerned -- unless some is interested in a few free drinks.

Let me guess, your sticker-shock ambulance ride occurred somewhere in the good ol' US of A? One of the reasons I am relocating to Colombia is the giant cluster-fuck USA healthcare has become, with cost being the central issue.

The other option was to fly to Medellin, take a bus back to Bogota, stopping at the places I want to see and paying a taxi to take me around. Unfortunately, some of the locations don't have any taxis in the area, so I would be paying for driver services much longer than necessary.

Since my ex-roommate's ex boyfriend used to make the Bogota to Medellin drive every other weekend and then drive around Medellin, often with her grandmother in-tow, I figure it's a nightmare I can handle. Especially since it's under 300 miles and I'm used to driving 600 miles per day.

What is all the fuss, so many pansy type scared of the dark ohhhh that's too much of the unknown, why not get a car in Bogota and drive to Medellin, you only live once so why not experience life the good and the bad and the problems the 'heck I am never going to try that again or this is what I would do different next time', get out and live and don't be afraid of the unknown, my god we are talking about an 8 hour drive from Bogota to Medellin a drive that I have done dozens of times in the past 6 years.

Heading to Medellin July 1-10 - first timer and having RTFF, I've got a bit of confidence in my prospects. Many thanks to all the contributors. Experience monger in the US. Mostly Seeking lately. Staying in Zona Rosa, though haven't picked the place (s) yet. Either Haven, Energy or private apt. Going to settle that very soon. Only speak a little Spanish. Hammering on DuoLingo daily. So will be relying on translate a bit. Have plans to visit the Mansion (4th of July party? Gusto, La Isla, Parque Lleras and maybe a stroll through El Centro when the sun is high. Got my Facebook page up and running today, but most of my experience is on Seeking. Will definitely give both a try. Would be great to sync up with others if you're in the area during that time. Just wanted to provide some more clubs you can visit in Medellin, since you are a first timer. Prices are from a couple years ago and may have changed.

Faces Dos. Carrera 44 #30-15. ($190 k on site). - Should definitely visit here as it's the top club in my opinion.

Fantasia Energy. Carrera 74 #101. ($130-150 k). - You get a massage with happy ending with some girls offering full service. This place is very clean and nice.

Luna Lunera. Avenida 33 #63 be 215. ($150 k on site). - Just another club, only visit if you have nothing else going on.

New Life. Calle 56 #49-39. ($50-80 k). Popular casa in centro, cheap prices, a bit difficult to find. It had a blue door last time I visited. It's about 3 blocks west of the cathedral in the nearby Parque de Bolivar. Need to cross the big road.

Barra Ejectiva. Calle 53 48-20. ($80 k +- This place in near Parque de Bolivar, about 1 block south. Not a lot of girls but I've found some gems.

Maracaibo. Calle 53 #49-30. ($80 k +- Across the street from Barra Ejectiva and similar.

Be careful of the girls in Gusto. I've paid a lot of money for horrible service there. If they quote rates in USD that's a red flag. You should visit at least one, and there are pretty girls there, but just know you are likely to pay a premium price for sub par service. I consider this place a tourist trap.

Unfortunately, Saturday night those plans fell apart after a nice relaxing ambulance trip. Feel free to speculate on the reason for the ambulance trip..

I take testosterone shots weekly and will be in Medellin and San Andres when shots are needed I am to big of a pussy to do it myself.

Will pharmacist do it or what will my options be.

I am not pointing fingers at any specific user but estimates range somewhere around 80-90% of the medical info on blogs and boards like this (not designed and staffed my medical professionals) is wrong.

Beyond someone telling you to "go here to get this" I would be careful about following any sort of medical advice you read here or anywhere on the Internet when that advice is not being given by a licensed medical professional. Telemedicine options staffed by doctors and nurses are everywhere these days and some online providers specialize in men's health and sexuality. They should be able to provide you with some accurate options. I tried to sit on my hands with this one but in good conscience, couldn't do it. Ostee Out.

I will be making my first ever trip to Medellin from July 1 - July 6. I will be staying near Parque Lleras. I have been reading all the valuable information here and also watching videos on YouTube to help me prepare. I plan to visit the clubs in Parque Lleras, casas, La Isla, and also check out Centro. I used to have to take testosterone shots and I gave them to my self. I would not classify it as being easy if you are afraid of needles to start with, I learned how to give shots in a clinical setting but its not rocket science. There are a few things you need to know.

First when your loading the medicine into the syringe barrel you have to keep air bubbles out. At first after you have pulled the liquid into the barrel the hold it to where the needle is pointing straight up pull the plunger back to let a little air into the top, this gives a space to allow in bubbles of air to escape into, and so if there are air bubbles in the main body of liquid in the barrel just keep flicking the side of the barrel until they rise up into the air at the top. Once all the air bubbles are out of the main body of liquid and the only air is at the very top then you slowly push the plunger to allow all that air to escape, pushing the plunger slowly until you see a free flow of liquid escaping the tip of the needle, just enough to be sure the air is gone so you do not waste too much of the medicine.

Next if you use darting action it will not hurt near as much because it pierces quickly. Darting action means flicking your wrist like throwing a dart to insert the needle instead of just pushing the needle. In school we practiced by flicking our wrist while giving shots to an orange. You know you have it down pat when it feels like there is no resistance from the orange peel and the needle goes in smoothly.

After the needle is in and before you push the plunger, you need to make sure that you have not hit a large blood vessel because you do not want the meds to go into that, you want them in the muscle so you aspirate (pull back slightly on the plunger) to be sure no blood flows back into the barrel (see video below). If no blood then slowly push that barrel. Testosterone can be thick liquid and it needs some time to be absorbed into the muscle tissue.

I would add to the information in the video that if you are using testosterone cypionate it is especially thick liquid I used to let the needle stay in about 30 seconds to a minute so the muscle can absorb it. I have had it come right back out the needle hole because the muscle did not absorb in quick enough. One last tip, try not to tense up as the needle is going in because the tighter the muscle the more it hurts.

It could always have been worse JJbee. Had your malady afflicted you 24 hrs later, you could have been needing the services of a Colombian ER / Hospital waiting amongst the dozens of covid cases awaiting a hospital bed. This was probably the better way for this to go down, as much as it affected your plans. Hope you manage to pack in the fun and report with your usual linguistic flair. Be well.
