Just wanted to give my pre Medellin experience. So I've been reading the posts for a couple weeks now, and got some good advice from you guys. I couldn't locate anything on Facebook, so I downloaded Tinder and spent a couple hours swiping and after the first day I got a bunch hits back and the women are beautiful.
The Good and the Bad.
I spent a couple Days speaking to some women most wants a real relationship and a couple will just drag you alone. I managed to speak with a couple that provides services, and I have 2 woman setup the first and second night. I even have a date with a sexy woman. I will be stating at Hotel Medellin Plaza since it's my first trip. I'm going to update you guys after my trip and maybe a couple days in if I have time.
I'm accepting any advice to keep my head on straight.

Posts: 1643Nutibara is the nicest of the El Centro hotels and a great value right now
The AC is ice cold, the rooms are huge, and the king size beds are firm. And you are across the street from Botero Park and Ground Zero, at one of the safer spots (traffic wise) to cross that street.

And the BBQ rib and hamburger place on the ground floor with a separate street entrance from the back of the hotel has good but pricey food by MDE standards, and is a good cut-thru to know, will save you from walking around the entire building. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor that specializes in Peruvian food which is surprisingly rare in Colombia, that I recommend, and a better value than the BBQ place.
Finally, you are on the right booking site for hotels in Colombia, IMO.

Posts: 3802Do You Know The Difference Between Shit And Shinola
It's amazing how people don't know the difference between shit and shinola (shoe polish) due to no fault of their own, and good advertising campaigns.

And for most Colombians, just getting to drink Tequila is a luxury for them, and as far as Jose Cuervo, I use it in my Tequila Sunrises and Margaritas because it is cheap, however I would never do shots of it. And because I'm cheap, I would never use Patron to make a mixed Tequila drink.

Posts: 374If you are referring to the guy on Youtube
There is a guy on Youtube I saw a while back who was 'selling' info -but that was for how to get and find Loutron--which is a mansion that is used as a casa / brothel-but not the Mansion-which is a hotel for mongers-newbies especially like you-that is referenced here hundreds of time--there's a whole entire section in the Colombia chat list dedicated to the Mansion. Any real reading through the forums here would offer plenty of information about the place and how to find it / reserve rooms and what shenanigans go on there.

Posts: 4346I can't answer because, like Playboy magazine, I only read Slapshots posts for the written content.

I give you kudos for finding such an effective way to express the concept! Only one tequila is worse, for price-to-quality ratio: Patron. At least, Jose Cuervo is cheap.

If I had to guess I would say I deleted over 50 apps and they kept popping back up.
I had to do a factory reset.

I also love the Didi app it makes it so much easier for a newbie, order on your phone (the price is upfront and given to you on app) car pulls up get in and don't have to say anything at all to driver, get to destination give the agreed price and carry on! Repeat on way back!

Posts: 1157Taxis, Uber, and DiDi run 24/7. Be careful getting a taxi on the street, especially around Parque Llerus. There are some dishonest drivers. Make sure the meter is on and reset. It should start at 3600, I think. There is also a minimum fare. I think it is now 5800. It's best to use an app to hail a ride. Cabify is an app for the regular taxis. All taxis operating in and around Medellin are yellow. There are white taxis that go between the airport and Medellin. All that being said, I have found most drivers are honest. Prices are cheap, but prices of Uber and Didi go up at night and when it is raining.

Posts: 5607It all depends on where you're drinking. If you're in Parque Lleras expect to pay 10 k and up for beer and as much as 40 k for a mixed drink. If you're in Laureles drop that down to 6 k and up for beer and up to about 30 k for mixed drinks. In liquor stores you'll pay between 2 k and 6 k for a beer. In bars in El Centro you can get a beer for 3-4 k.
