I too have done the tour with Jimmy Giraldo. Speaks fantastic english, has his own car to drive you.

Jimmy's a cool guy. A number of years ago he took me out to Finca Napoli along with a hottie from the Mansion. We all had a thoroughly great time and Jimmy's English is excellent (he was a gypsy driver in NYC if I remember correctly) His car at that time knid of suckedd, but hopefully he has upgraded. Good family man, but no juefgrmernt. In other words, Colombian, but seaks English.

Yup. Not sure what he's talking about, probably some more misinformation. Apps with malware etc would never get approved and make it to the App Store.

And for most Colombians, just getting to drink Tequila is a luxury for them, and as far as Jose Cuervo, I use it in my Tequila Sunrises and Margaritas because it is cheap, however I would never do shots of it. And because I'm cheap, I would never use Patron to make a mixed Tequila drink.

If tequila is sold at this discount store then it is more common than you think. The convenience store "D1" which is everywhere sells cheap Tequila 750 ML for 40,000 COP / 3600 = $11.11. I buy Irish Cream Whiskey 750 ML at Justin and Bueno convenience store for 25,000 COP / 3600 = $6. 94.

Just wanted to give my pre Medellin experience. So I've been reading the posts for a couple weeks now, and got some good advice from you guys. I couldn't locate anything on Facebook, so I downloaded Tinder and spent a couple hours swiping and after the first day I got a bunch hits back and the women are beautiful.

The Good and the Bad.

I spent a couple Days speaking to some women most wants a real relationship and a couple will just drag you alone. I managed to speak with a couple that provides services, and I have 2 woman setup the first and second night. I even have a date with a sexy woman. I will be stating at Hotel Medellin Plaza since it's my first trip. I'm going to update you guys after my trip and maybe a couple days in if I have time.

I'm accepting any advice to keep my head on straight.

There will be women at your hotel to take care of your wants and desires, and get you started on Facebook.

Taxis, Uber, and DiDi run 24/7. Be careful getting a taxi on the street, especially around Parque Llerus. There are some dishonest drivers. Make sure the meter is on and reset. It should start at 3600, I think. There is also a minimum fare. I think it is now 5800. It's best to use an app to hail a ride. Cabify is an app for the regular taxis. All taxis operating in and around Medellin are yellow. There are white taxis that go between the airport and Medellin. All that being said, I have found most drivers are honest. Prices are cheap, but prices of Uber and Didi go up at night and when it is raining.

Yeah I never use taxi's, didi is my go to, there's two other similar apps. Uber is a little more expensive and not as common to find drivers as the drivers generally want to get paid in cash and have money now opposed to get payment later. If you're in parque lleras, start calling your app before the clubs close and put it down to pay in cash. In peak times they will cancel on you, taxis will ask off the bat 30 k for a 5 k ride, they understand the demand so be prepared.

It fucked up my fone, I lost count of how many apps it put on my fone, many games etc.

I'm guessing they are malware / spyware etc.

If I had to guess I would say I deleted over 50 apps and they kept popping back up.

I had to do a factory reset.

On my previous phone, the app would run the battery down in a few hours. I learned to stop the app after I started the trip. I got a new phone and haven't had any problems with the app. Both phones are Android. So far, no extra apps have been loaded. I used the app on my new phone for a month during my previous trip and have been using it for the past week.

If you're not going for more than two weeks or you have absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing to do right now I would abandon tinder. Read back posts about facebook, go to Parque Lleras, La Isla, Centro, Photoprepagos and post your dates and I'm sure someone can meet up with you from here. I think there was a guy here a few months ago that posted he couldn't get laid, that's really fucking hard to do here.

Go with the one these people recommended, I went with one through a hostel in Manilla and I thought it was a waste of time. I heard the ones that take you to see his animals are better but I'm biased, I hate tours generally. Paragliding over the city is on my to do list next trip.

I can unhesitatingly recommend an amazing Pablo tour, with Jimmy Giraldo. Find him on Facebook. He has deep insight into the family, as his sister was close with Pablo himself and I believe his brother was in the cartel, and didn't make it through. Super nice and fun guy. Would do it again!

It's amazing how people don't know the difference between shit and shinola (shoe polish) due to no fault of their own, and good advertising campaigns.

You take Jose Cuervo tequila which is widely promoted, and how the hell are most Colombians going to know whether the quality is any good, no different than the Certified Angus Beef sold in Colombia at such a high price.

Tequila Intolerance, in others, jaajaja. I am sure you are correct but usually you are not divisive here, albeit a minor subject. BTW, you do a great job on this board and I think you are due for a raise. My first interest in posting, Jose Cuervo Gold is my tequila of choice and I drink shots of it all the time. Basically I got used to it. The taste varies widely from bottle do bottle which shows to go ya, it really isn't a quality product, but I like it.

Here's the real reason I posted and a great example of cultural differences. We were having a little party in the casa I am buiding on the mountaintop with me novia, her famly and friends. I know your remember because you asked pointed questions before about it. Mi novia's padre kept asking me, "Quieres beber algo de Boocannons? Do you want to drink some Boocannons? I thought I was in for a new local drink when he breaks out a bottle of 12 year old Scotch. We all did a round of shots, and then they break out ice, limes and salt, to drink with the Scotch! I am not an aficionado but I'm pretty sure salt and lime would considered a sacrilege to a Scotch drinker. But here's where it gets tripendicular. I loved it, tasted great! I would do it that way again. Yeah, I know, there's no accounting for taste, jaja. The red foto is our future kitchen set up as a DJ booth for mi novia's hermano. Ostee out.

In the south we say shit from apple butter. There are alcohols that you use for mixing and there are alcohols that you consume alone. It does not make sense to use a quality and expensive alcohol in a mix. Of course it is all in the advertising. McD's has always made fun commercials and their burgers have always tasted like not quality. The diamond industry does a hell of a job telling you that you need to get diamonds, but try selling one of those mfs back to them and they won't even take it back for free. I laugh at all the rappers bragging about the worthless rocks they spent a ton of money on.
