Just got my Covid test results for my return to the US. Positive. I'm currently in quarantine at a hotel in Bogota. I've already informed everyone I was in close contact with, fortunately a small number of people.

For the record, I received my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the end of March. Before all the conspiracy theorists get started, the Pfizer vaccine is only 95% effective at preventing infection. Also due to some of my medications, my immune system is compromised.

As I noted before, I have been feeling pretty run down this entire trip. It is possible I was infected before I got here, and it's possible I was infected after arrival. At this point it's unknown.

Although I don't feel terrible, having to stay in a hotel room for 1 to 2 weeks isn't my idea of a good time.

Also if they reopen Hotel Botero let me know! Will do Hotel Nutibara otherwise but I love the top floors in the Botero facing west, great view, good breeze and less noise up high.

First time here. Did zero prep work. Don't speak a word of Spanish. I didn't realize how fucked I was until the immigration officer said something in half English and I could not understand until she wrote it down on paper. I'm in a hotel next to parque Lleras for the night. Just getting my bearings and getting some rest after a long flight. Tomorrow I'm checking into the mansion for several days. Will I be alright there or should I learn some basic Spanish? Also, any good casual restaurant recommendation near parque Lleras?

The video looks like it was recorded at San Ignacio plaza. That not a place tinto vendors would go to get side money. Across la Oriental at Parque Berrio is easier pickings.

I don't mean to offend anyone but I have about had it with the growing horde of youtubers and their rotating cell phone holders they swivel around and shove in people's faces. They make me nervous when I see them in a barrio or around Centro because it's just a matter of time before some of them get jacked for their expensive gear. That is something I would rather not see and something I would rather not happen but it is going to happen more and more now that there are so many of them. I think it will run its course the way shooting video of concerts through cell phones instead of watching concerts ran its course. This is a more dangerous fad.

Appreciate the info! I agree somewhat about the Youtubers, its extremely stupid of them to do. But because I haven't been to Medellin yet its helped me understand things like how to dress when I'm in El Centro and how the ladies look. Couple the visuals I get with Youtube and the info I get from this forum I feel well prepared when I finally do make the trip. The way I figure, I'm not the one putting myself in danger waving an expensive camera around, I hope that they're safe but if that's what they want to do I won't stop them. If your shopping for a coffee girl, the largest concentration of them in El Centro can be found at the Parque Berrio Metro Station, specifically on the stairs leading up to the platform, and generally around that area and directly below.

As far as the girl in the video, there's dozens of them similar in shape and size to her selling coffee so no shortage of them, but not all of them go to the room.

There are plenty of people in Colombia who are still riding high on the residuals of the Pablo Escobar days, and Colombia has always had a solid middle class as well as an upper crust. Many of them graduate from top American schools, and even more from prestigious institutions in South America and Europe. While there are plenty of poor folks, there are also more than enough Colombians that not only can afford Patron, but know that most of Patron's cache is marketing, and there are much better and far more expensive tequilas on the market. Tequila's not a popular drink in Colombia, though. The national drink is Aguardiente, also called guiero. They also grow some seriously good wines, every bit as good as those from Chile and Argentina. Colombians aren't ignorant, and South America isn't a stranger to beef production.

According to worldbank, just over 50% of the Colombian population is below the international poverty line. Roughly translated that means most of the people in Colombia can't afford to drink tequila.

The national drink is aguardiente because it's cheap. Ask all those middle class Colombians if they like aguardiente and you'll get an almost unanimous "no", accompanied by a look of disgust.

As for the popularity of tequila in Colombia, I've never had a Colombiana offer to drink aguardiente with me and I've never had a Colombiana turn down an offer to drink tequila with me.

Granted, I'm not hanging out in Manrique or Popular, sitting on the street drinking with the people who are happy to make 15 k per day.

And unless they've recently relocated Miami, you might want to take all the "gringo privilege" bullshit you keep slinging around and shove it up your Boca Raton.

Flag it so that it gets demonetized. When it's demonetized, there's less incentives for them to post these videos on YouTube.

Wednesday night I went out with a buddy to watch a couple games. When I returned home, Pinky was with the ex sports bar waitress (photos in Feb / Mar, I think). I was drunk and jumped in the jacuzzi but it was so fucking hot, I got out after two minutes. As the friend was preparing to leave, we started fooling around, and broke one of Pinky's 3 rules: sex in our master bed.

On the the title. Yesterday, I got 4 girls who said, "Not tonight, but I'm free tomorrow" - which led to Coin Slot getting the invite. She arrived before I got back home, and they were smoking and drinking. Well, fast forward past the jacuzzi party and trio. We're going to bed and Pinky starts crying. Coin Slot told her that she came to see me a couple weeks back when Pinky was with her family. Why?! I have no fucking idea. We'll see where this leads us. I have a couple buddies coming to town in 10 days, so if life is a downer in the next week, I might ship Pinky back to her pueblo and hit the reset button. Has anyone been to Dos Santos Cantina? It looks like a new Mexican restaurant in Provenza, CL 8 & Cr 33. I've seen a few Instagram hotties posting from there, recently. They have very Instagrammable decor, so you know it could become a hot spot, if it isn't already. Also, I noticed a party all night long on the top floor of what I think to be Hotel Diez. Anyone know if there is a bar / lounge upstairs or if that was a penthouse suite party?

You take Jose Cuervo tequila which is widely promoted, and how the hell are most Colombians going to know whether the quality is any good, no different than the Certified Angus Beef sold in Colombia at such a high price.

And for most Colombians, just getting to drink Tequila is a luxury for them, and as far as Jose Cuervo, I use it in my Tequila Sunrises and Margaritas because it is cheap, however I would never do shots of it. And because I'm cheap, I would never use Patron to make a mixed Tequila drink.

The AC is ice cold, the rooms are huge, and the king size beds are firm. And you are across the street from Botero Park and Ground Zero, at one of the safer spots (traffic wise) to cross that street...

I just spent 7 nights there.

Pay a few extra dollars a night and get the top floor room with king size bed.

Has a big TV and balcony.

It's not luxurious, but not a roach motel either, LOL.

Great AC, I had no problems with the shower or hot water.

No problem with bringing girls with ID either.

They don't even register them, they just hold their ID til they leave.

It's just very convenient to Botero.

Not a great area after dark obviously, however, the hotel is very safe.

It looks like a prison on the outside but it seems to be a great headquarters / smashpad for the El Centro hotties. Thanks.

I just got back recently from an 7 night stay in Medellin. Overall it was a good learning experience. Before going, I read the board but didn't take detailed notes (like I did for a prior trip to Bangkok). I felt like things have changed quite a bit since covid and I arrived a few days after all restrictions had been lifted, so some of the information didn't apply.

Background: 40 ish, African American, very limited Spanish, frequent traveler, from the States. About 2-3 weeks before traveling I signed up for SA and I began using Tinder. I had about 5-6 contacts lined up before I touched down.

Day 1.

I land in Medellin. Immigration was hell. Apparently 3 planes landed at the same time. It took 2-3 hours to get through the lines. I secure a taxi to my apartment in El Poblado. I went through airbnb and made sure I knew the rules for visitors before booking. Very secure building with a guard downstairs 24 hours. A few hours after getting settled in, it begins to rain. It's late, dark, I don't know my way around yet, so I take the safe route and just order food in and relax alone.

Very nice report Reggie. Can you please share the AirBnb link or approximate location? It is getting hard to find AirBnB that allows guests!
