I've never heard of immigration ever asking to see a return ticket upon arrival, yet the airlines have been the one's checking / inquiring about it before boarding.

Yamaha update that no one asked for. Turns out there is a three month backlog for orders from the factory on all new Yamahas, internationally. We checked Bogota, Cali, same story. All the motos you see in the shop are already sold and waiting for delivery. Here's where it got weird. The dealer wanted a 100% down payment to order the bike. Granted it is a seller's market, but that is typical for how businesses take advantage of the average every day Colombian here who does not know the difference. I told him I would put a down payment of whatever his normal profit margin was on one moto. I threw out the figure 2 million COP at him on a 12 million COP moto. I explained to him that if I don't follow up with full payment at time of delivery, which they say could be three months or longer, obviously they keep the deposit and sell the bike to someone else for double their usual profit. The guy looked at me like he was stunned by my logic, jajaja. He went to go ask his manager and I left because he took too long. Catgirl was not with me as we are still in the middle of one of her menstrual episode hiatuses where she goes nearly psychotic. Then today she tells me she is not feeling any better, and she is headed for our place on the mountaintop to visit her mom who is also not doing well medically at the moment, and to update and supervise our build on the casa. Everything is a blur.

The salvoconducto costs 60,000 pesos and the fine starts at 440,000 pesos and can go as high as over 5 million pesos. But if you have overstayed for less than three months I have heard from a few foreigners the fine can be less than 700,000 pesos.
