If you look at the photo galleries in various destinations, you will find many types of photos including tourist photos. It probably would be better if "Photo Gallery" would be reclassified as "Provider Photo Gallery."

Personally, I love reading stories about Rio's past. It would be great to create a few threads in the lower section by period - 1990 - 1995,1995 - 2000, etc.

My tendency is when I meet someone who has real life experiences is to buy them lunch, dinner or a drink, sit back listen and occasionally ask a question or two. Way too many academics in this world for me who love listening to themselves talk, speculate and misinform. As someone who joined the Rio party a little later, I often wonder why those who came before think Brazilians are so untrustworthy. Was it hyper-inflation and not knowing what tomorrow would bring?

Brazil is full of poverty and you shouldn't trust any of them. They will rob you blind. Never tell anyone you have money. You are a uber driver.

I recalled I had some small change before leaving one day and I picked up a (weekly) magazine which tag price was right the money I had in the pocket. I hand over the money and the guy says "sorry, not enough, it's 50% more".

No, the prices were in cruzeiros (CR $), just as it said in my post. Inflation yes, but no need to have a menu with prices in a foreign currency.

You guys speak about Brazil being cheap now, but in 1991 it was dirt cheap. In Help you didn't even have to buy drink tickets. Just walk up to the bar man with some notes in your palma and shake his hands and you had your drink quickly. Not to mention the girls, they were all for free if you were young and had some charm. Maybe RioBob remembers? I envy him, who experienced Help in the late eighties. There must have been some hairy bushes.

I'm guessing if that menu is from 1993 the disco had to print a new menu almost every day. The inflation rate was over 1900% that year. It was crazy how all Brazilians had to find ways to deal with hyperinflation in their daily lives.

Is Casarao open now?

For me, Casarao is a state of mind (mine). I'm older than an average patron, but in Casarao it really doesn't matter. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. Last time I went there after a night in Bomboa in March 2020, I felt, it's a zoo. I still love it and miss it. For a newbie, just know where your wallet is, in many senses. Its totally safe environment.

Inflation, yeah, but there was also a little thing called the Governo Militar. It was, as the saying goes, the best of times and the worst of times.

Probably the image size is too large. Try sending it first to yourself with the mail app, then save it. After you press the arrow to send the mail, the app will ask you the image size you want to send. You can also WhatsApp the photos to yourself. You can not choose the image size, but it will reduce the size of the file.
