You'll find this JW inferior to normal international JW Marriott standards. The staff try hard, but this hotel suffers from general lack of space. The rooms are tiny and it felt a bit dated (back in 2019).
It's a nice hotel, though, and the location can't be beat.

Can someone verify that jw Marriott is girl friendly with no extra charge for 2022. I know things can change quick at these hotels. The rates are 90 a day which is great for a 5 star place.

The next time I go to Rio, I won't be staying in Copacabana. I'm tired of it, and time to move on. I've narrowed it down to LeBlon (there's more going on in LeBlon than I realized) and Ipanema. Does anybody have any relatively recent experience with hotels in these two areas? I've never had a problem finding girl-friendly hotels all over Copa, but I've never stayed in the two aforementioned locations. I heard a long time ago that the best hotels in LeBlon particularly may not be so open to mongers bringing in GDPs, no matter whether you booked for two or not. Would appreciate any knowledge held by the brotherhood regarding the current girl-friendly hotel situation in LeBlon and Ipanema.

Stayed here 4 nights. It's easy to bring girls to your room. The elevators are before the reception and the reception staff is always busy and have no idea who stays in the hotel. Nice rooftop terrace with pool and bar.

Posts: 112Unfortunately, the monger friendly Porto bay hotel in Copacabana is closed for renovation at the moment. I wonder if it will still keep its GF status when it opens up again?

Planning my 4th trip to Rio. I've always stayed in an apartment.
I'the like to try staying in a hotel. I searched for a list of "girl friendly" hotels but couldn't find anything.
Can someone please recommend 2 or 3 Girl Friendly hotels within a block or 2 of Copacabana Beach?

I have stayed at AirBnBs around the world where English is the principal language or I speak the native language. Otherwise, if I do not have friends in that country, I stay at hotels.
First timers coming to Brazil should do the same. AirBnB hosts will list that they speak English to get rentals when they really don't. If there is a problem, then there goes your dream trip.
On one of my first trips to Brazil I rented an apartment which had issues. Fortunately, one of the rental agency team spoke English (had lived in the US) and they refunded my money and I moved to a hotel. As a result of their fair business practices, we became good friends and I rented from them often.
Do not underestimate the value of English-speaking hotel employees. They can arrange tours, help you communicate with other Brazilians and in many ways make your life easier. Can you do this on your own? Sure, but you don't have time to waste muddling around when you could have gotten a quick answer or resolution. One time I was in Rio staying at a hotel when their internet went out while I was in an important meeting. No problem. I just took my laptop down the street to another hotel walked up to reception and asked is there someplace quiet where I can connect to your internet. The clerk escorted me down the hall to a private office and I was back in my meeting. No charge. Again, do not underestimate the value of these relationships. Often on the forum people ask about exchange rates. Who do you think gets the best exchange rates other than some friends who will remain nameless? Hotels. Wouldn't it be great if you got their same exchange rate? You guys who think you have it all figured out, don't. One of the members you always try to pick fights with, does. Maybe you should listen to him now and again. He has been places, seen and done things you never will.
