Over the next three weeks I'll be posting a diary of my time in Thailand. I chose to fly in to Phuket and stay in Krabi under the sandbox scheme.

A lot of the gogo bars on LK Metro have pretty girls and I was reeled in to Unreal bar by a pretty girl in a white dress with braces on her teeth. I offered her a lady drink immediately. She had a chopped fringe, Japanese mannerisms and was a lot of fun. At one point she got up on to a small circular stage next to me and danced around a chrome pole. She was a sexy mover.

When she sat back down next to me I enquired about the barfine but she told me 'cannot do tonight, tomorrow okay?' There could be any number of reasons why she wasn't available, the most likely perhaps that she had an appointment set up for later, with a regular perhaps. It was disappointing because I really liked this girl but sometimes you have to be patient in Pattaya.

Time was marching on. It was 10.30 and the bars closed in just half an hour. I thought Sugar Sugar would be a safe bet but most of the pretty girls were with customers. A girl ran over and hugged up to me, telling me she remembered me from last night and she really liked me. I bought her a drink but I knew I wouldn't be taking her back to my hotel. She was a sweet girl but not my type.

11 pm arrived and staff bought the chairs from outside in to the bar and closed the door. It was time to go. I was disappointed with Sugar Sugar. The talent levels were down from last night and I was pestered for ladydrinks. If it wasn't another drink for the girl sat next to me, it was a drink for her friend or a tequila for the waitress. It got annoying after a while.

I've definitely noticed there is more pressure to buy drinks at the moment. Perhaps it's not a surprise. With the bars operating with less girls, they need to keep them in the bar to attract customers.

All was not lost. Closing time can reap rich rewards.

I remember lingering around Nana Plaza in Bangkok at closing time once and securing the services of a pretty gogo girl for half the price I'd have paid if I met her in the bar.

As predicted there was a mass exodus as girls left their bars but there was a problem. All of the girls were wearing masks! I lingered around the Buakhao area for a while but gave up after a while and headed back to my hotel without a girl.

Lesson learned. Since the bars currently close at 11 pm, you've got to start your bar-crawl earlier. Normally, when bars stay open until 3 or 4 am, time isn't an issue, but these are unusual times and we need to change our game accordingly.

Over the next three weeks I'll be posting a diary of my time in Thailand. I chose to fly in to Phuket and stay in Krabi under the sandbox scheme.

Aom 2 was a sexy mover and smiled down almost constantly to me from the stage, a promising sign, so I decided to barfine her. The barfine was an eye-watering 800 baht and she quoted 2000 short-time and 3000 long-time. I countered with my usual 1500 'plus good tip if you make me smile' and she agreed.

Awesome report, Lancelot! Looking forward to upcoming reports as well. Looks like Pattaya is still better as far as value is concerned vs Phuket. Someone in the Phuket thread reported 2 k barfine and 7 k LT fees in Harem. Which sounds familiar to my first Phuket visit.

Was your 1500 counter for LT or ST? Is your "good tip" 500?
