The removal of the beer carts and food vendors really gave Sukhumvit a different feel. I wasn't one of those guys who sat around in the beer kiosks but I still kind of miss them walking down Sukhumvit. I especially miss all the Thermae girls popping out for food and sitting in the sidewalk tables outside of Thermae. So much more fun in the good old days.

Oh yeah, that was fun, but I actually preferred it before the food cart days when places like Thermae and the grace coffee shop would stay open till the morning.

Personally, I care for a fun time browsing through a decent number of appealing and willing working girls. To summarize, for guys wanting decent sex and willing to wade through shit to get it, Thailand might sill be worthwhile, but if you're after a fun hooker scene with a good vibe and good times on the prowl, it's no longer exists.

I couldn't agree more Croc. Pattaya used to be charmingly sleazy and now I find it a bit off-putting at times. I used to love soi 6 when they were all closed lounge type bars, more like the gentleman's club scattered throughout party now. But now it's extremely loud and it's lost that laid back vibe.

It's also very hard for people to imagine what lower Suk was like in the early 00's. At night it was basically all P4 P gals and guys on the hunt for them. You couldn't walk 10 yards between suite 3 and the Westin, at that time the Delta Grand Pacific, without having a girl ask "go with you. " There were so many it was almost impossible to make a decision. You never saw regular tourists, farang couples, YUDs (young urban douchebags), or really anyone who was not on the game. When Cowboy and Nana closed it was a free-for-all. You would literally have hundreds of girls pouring out of Nana going up to every guy they would see and propositioning them. In Cowboy they would just meander on the soi looking for a customer. Can't tell you how many times I grabbed a girl, headed for the short time room, and didn't get her name till we were finished and on our way out. Thermae stayed up until 6:00 am And was still the domain of the Western punter as the Asian punters had the coffee shop at the Siam City Hotel. And yes all of these activities were an incredible amount of fun. It was never work or ever difficult to find something great. It really was a party every single night. This pretty much went for all of Bangkok not just farang P4 P scene. This truly was a 24-hour town.
Can you still have fun here? Well, of course you can, but it's just not the same. And it's still beats living in the USA.

I'm having the best sex of my life with some of the best girls I have ever met in Bangkok. I do live here, I go to the bars twice a week and I work the online sites every day. Is it worth a 2 week visit based on the current cost? Not for me to judge it's not my money. But living here during Covid I get the best girls with little competition because of so few tourists, and by competition I mean timing not being good looking or having game or any of that other shit. I have been coming to Bangkok several times a year for the last 20 years, and sure I had lost of fun back before 2010, but I was also younger and more outrageous. I have been able to find consistently great sex in all the years (and of course many misfires too, goes with the hobby).

In about a month, I'm coming back to Bangkok for the first time since just before this thing started. Its a little depressing to read the gogo scene being only a fraction of what it used to be. But I also saw a few posts saying that you might get lucky. I like to have a few beers and look around before I decide, so gogos have always worked well for me, even if you can get unlucky with a starfish. One of my favorite spots used to be Crazy House, being able to check the girls out stark naked. Or one of the other places where they like to show you theyre not wearing panties even if they are in short skirts.

But I guess there is not a lot of that going on these days. I can only hope it will have improved further in a months time when I get there.

I'd agree that mongering in the late 90's till the early 10's was amazing. Early 00's saw incredible Go-Go and freelancer scenes both in Bangkok and Pattaya. Gals were cheap and plentiful and always a buyer's market. Mid 00's till early 10's saw a huge decline and price increase in Go-Go's and freelancers but was the heyday of the oilies, Tulip, Mango, and Snow White. All are but a shadow of their former selves.
