Definately not. Getting 1000 without a problem. If you're quoted something silly, you can usually get it down to 1 K. Why pay more if it just takes asking?

I saw on YouTube that shuttles take a few hours to get to Pattaya as they do not take toll ways whereas Taxis only take an hour and take tollways. Also, with a lot of luggage in hand I think a taxi may be better for me.

Buses also take toll ways I think. Toll ways are not always the fastest, it depends on traffic. I'd rather take the bus than a random taxi as the latter imbeciles often text while driving, although I'm not too reassured when the bus is driving on the elevated expressway: the parapet may be high enough to prevent a car from toppling over but not a higher vehicle like a bus.

I want a hotel that is nice with excellent WiFi (I will need to Zoom while I am in Pattaya) that has nice suites. It does not have to be 4 or 5 star, but it must be GF. Breakfast is not important.

The location is excellent. The suites are large and comfortable and have really large kitchens. It's been years since I stayed there, but when I did the wi-fi was acceptably fast.

You could also consider the Baraquda:

Also features an excellent location, next door to The Avenue shopping area. They have some suites with a balcony overlooking the pool. Very contemporary decor. Probably more expensive than the Whitehouse.

Finally, consider renting a condo. These come in various sizes, but if you look around you can find a 50 square meter place with an efficiency layout and a balcony. Some even have a washer and a decent cable TV / internet package.

I have not found a hotel in Thailand that has excellent WiFi. So far, all of them have unpredictable times when it gets slow and unsuitable for things like Zoom.

My solution has been to get a Thailand cell service SIM that allows you to use hotspot functionality. The plain vanilla DTAC service sold at BKK baggage claim area works fine for me. I only use hotel WiFi to backup my iPhone.

I must admit that WiFi at most hotels is much better than it was a few years ago, but still not excellent.

I always recommend the Wave Hotel on Beach Road directly south of the Hilton. The price is still expensive @$150 but it is quite nice when compared with the cost and look of the Hilton. GF, of course, though they must have ID to enter.

I checked out the Pattaya Hilton, and while it looks like a great place, a suite is about $220 US. I am partial to suites, but that seems expensive.

So, I will ask a modified request for help. I want a hotel that is nice with excellent WiFi (I will need to Zoom while I am in Pattaya) that has nice suites. I checked out the Pattaya Hilton, and while it looks like a great place, a suite is about $220 US. I am partial to suites, but that seems expensive.

If you arrive into BKK I assume you do your Test & Go PCR test at a BKK hotel? When you're good you can take a bus or van from Ekkamai bus terminal (BTS Station Ekkamai, there's OK signage). Buses are about 119 baht and vans 140. Vans can drop you in central Pattaya (at the main road) but may take longer due to many stops / avoiding tolls.

Taxi Pattaya to BKK is 1200, BKK cabbies will probably ask much more, just guessing. I'd take Airport Link to BKK airport and try catch an empty, homebound Pattaya taxi at departures, they will be OK with maybe 900, surely 1000 (99% are empty on return). Have no idea how many they are now post covid. There are buses from Suvarnabhumi as well, daytime operation mostly these days.

Use Bolt in Pattaya its significantly cheaper than Grab.

Shuttle van from BKK airport to Pattaya runs a few times a day, iirc leaves at 12:30 and 3 or 3:30 pm and maybe other times too. Its cheap.
