I can only say that Holiday inn at Kolkata airport is like this. I have been to some other Holiday inn hotels in India and found that the simply let anyone walk in during the day time. Never tried it after 5 pm.

For holiday inn Kolkata, you have to take the girl to the reception, tell them that she is your guest and fill up their form. The guest also has to give her ID card. They will allow it only till 9 pm. This was told to me by a WG, and I have personally did that.
