The Brazilian Real weakened significantly leading up to Lula's election in October 2002. It hit a low weeks before the election. It strengthened almost nonstop after the 2002 election.

My point is that it's hard to predict how the currency market will react to events. Lula's chances are already priced in and the market often overreacts in advance of an event. Hence, the adage "buy on the rumor, sell on the news".

I agree with you a contested election would be bad for the Real in the short-run. On the other hand, a peaceful transition might be good for the Brazilian Real.

What I heard was that the expectation is that now each candidate is going to pivot towards the center to appeal to more moderate voters, which the market likes.

I cannot explain the recent relative strength of the BRL aside from a commodity driven economy that's benefiting from war in Ukraine and global inflation. Maybe that's enough.

Still, support lines suggest a cross over 6 USD at some point.

I would refrain from cussing in a foreign language until my command is sufficient to hold a meaningful conversation, at least. For one thing, it ain't satisfying.

My favorite marijuanita and I like to watch episodes of "Trailer Park Boys" & "Ash vs Evil Dead" both in Portuguese with English subtitles on Netflix. It is not exactly great cinema, but they are good for laughs in between sessions, especially after we have had a smoke. She also likes "Better Call Saul" and "Ozark" although those two are heavier stuff. She gets off on the Ruth Langmore character in "Ozark."

Wow she has great taste in tv.
