I happen not to agree 100% with this description of all of Costa Rica, but I temper my remarks by noting that it's been a long time since I have been to Costa Rica, and it was all pre-pandemic. Now take a place like the Del Rey. When I used to go, by 7 pm it would be packed wall-to-wall with at least 200+ or so tutes up in there (lots of 7's and 8's). The music would be loud and people would be eating and drinking and talking and laughing. There was a tiny little casino area and people would be in there blowing some money. And mongers would be striking up deals with Ticas and Colombianas (and maybe a few Nicas, Panamenas, and Salvadorenas too) to get blown LOL! You could walk across "Gringo Gulch" to this little place across the street (forget the name of it) where there was live music and a restaurant. I remember there also was this club called "El Quartel" or something like that with people packed in standing shoulder to shoulder for live music. I went there one time with a blonde head turner from Colombia (doorman told me I was living "la pura vida" hahaha). Now, if you wanted an atmosphere that was more quiet and laid back with tutes "milling about", then that would be the Sportmens Lodge, which is still kicking.

I think we are in general agreement on Costa Rica vs San Jose. I do think Steve could have a blast in CR, but I don't think it would be better than Rio. If he hasn't the time for Jaco, that rules out the beach. We also both find the Rio girls generally hotter than CR girls whether they are from a country near CR or a true Tica.

Steve is also posting on the San Jose board and getting a taste of the vibe. I think some of the members have confirmed the number of girls is down. The Del Rey is a shell of its former self. However I think we all know that if we are sitting across from a hotty that we are about to bed, it doesn't matter where we are at and how many girls are in the building.

Here are some key points between the two cities:

Rio is far more cosmopolitan than San Jose. Steve seems to like nice restaurants, bars and clubs, but again it's a short stopover. So perhaps he will focus on hooking up.

Rio has a beach right out the front door.

Rio girls are hotter, more adventurous and more diverse. If anal is your game, I think it's easier to find in Rio.

San Jose is easy to get to from North America, but Steve's itinerary has him in Sao Paulo.

Yeah San Jose is safer, but if you have navigated Sao Paulo I don't think Rio will intimidate you.

I do enjoy having small casinos and sports books all around in Gringo Gulch. Gringo Gulch is relatively compact. It's mongering central.

Beaches.

Copa is tourist hell as you constantly get bugged every 10 steps on the beach.
Ipanema is better but still have guys bugging you.
Barra has the best beaches where the only people who bother you are the beach chair people so not so bad. They also have nice beach club restaurants where in copa / ipa they just have little finger food booths.

Girls, girls, girls:

-4 X 4-. Still one of the best termas in Rio. I went here every other day while here.
Overall still top 3 places in Rio.

-SOLARIUM-. I believe this is the most upscaled place out of all the termas in rio. Not comparable to anything in SP but for rio it's the best you can get.
The girls here are so much nicer, friendly and hotter than any place I've been to thru out all 5 times I've been to rio. .

So here are a few thoughts I have had after reading Bearsi's excellent RJ report:

Beaches: I am into natural beaches, so for me there is no stretch of beach in RJ better than the Praia the Reserva, Barra the Tijuca which begins at the Grand Hyatt. But it is not a pick-up beach. Ha Ha.

GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS: There are only 2 Termas in RJ that I really like. Solarium & 4 x 4. Bearsi describes them very accurately. I would only differ with him on the best time to visit 4 x 4. I prefer going later at night to catch the party party. On Dolce Vita & Casablanca: I really want to check these 2 joints out. I need more than my 2 favorite termas to justify another side trip to RJ and I believe I have it with these two bars or whatever they are called.

Prives: yeah, quality does matter. It is just my opinion, but SP clinicas are worth doing and I like them & with most RJ Prives not so much. I know some guys like the Prives and go to them a lot. That's fine with me. Do what makes you happy. But I am not a fan.

BarraVips: During the Covid lockdown I focused on this source, and I met a bunch of nice girls. The girls looked like their photos and service was always good, but I prefer going out rather than ordering in. Plain & simple.

Bringing Sand to the Beach: I particularly enjoyed reading this section of Bearsi's report. KKK. I have taken my favorite BKK girl to Phuket and I flew my favorite Yangon girl to BKK. Yeah, it's kinda crazy bringing sand to the beach, but I had a good time, both times, and the girls loved it, so what the fuck although normally it is a better idea to take favorite girls to some place that does not have girls. Like the time I took my 2 favorite Manila girls to Palawan. The 3 of us had a real good time on a beautiful natural beach. Or just this last November I took my favorite Scandallo girl, Valerie, to Maresias. That trip was so nice that I am going to take her to Ilhabela this June. She literally glowed when I asked her to go with me.

Lastly, I totally agree with Bearsi's conclusions: SP is better for girls by far and likewise SP is my new, post covid favorite girly destination which can be proven by the fact that I have still not returned to BKK, Pat, or Jakarta since they reopened and BTW since weed is now semi-legal and readily obtainable in BKK & Pattaya store fronts. I have fallen for Brazilian girls. What can I say? KKK.

As to RJ, it has beaches (urban except for the Barra Praia the Reserva) and the cityscape looks spectacular. RJ also has a decent nightlife, and therefore, it is definitely worth checking out or revisiting from time to time. It is a short flight from SP.

Looking at termas and boates I am considering 4 x4, Dolce Vita, and Solarium based on Bearsi's feedback. He's explained how they differ. What about Monte Carlo. Seems so convenient. What's wrong with it? Oh and Perola Negra. Thoughts?

Also almost everything seems closed Sunday. Dolce opens at 11 Pm. Any other suggestions?

There's nothing wrong with Monte Carlo. It's just smaller with fewer girls. If one is staying nearby in Copacabana, it's work a look. I'm not sure if I would make it a trip to go there. I have enjoyed 4 x 4 and Solarium more. The bar area in 4 x 4 usually has much more energy. However, some guys like to hit as many venues as possible. On a short trip, you should probably focus on a few.

Depending on your schedule, you might want to have made a connection before Sunday comes around. There is also a vibrant escort scene if you are looking for action Sunday afternoon.

Now these sons of onions want to charge you 200 up to 500 USD for one tickets or round trip if you book late. You should always book your flight from SP to Rio ahead of time to avoid this. Sometimes the price isn't too bad but if you book ahead of time they usually can be had for around $40 USD.

Since I wasn't sure if I was going to stay more time in SP I opted to get a leito cama bus from SP to Rio which is a 6 hour bus ride. So the thing about the leito cama is that it is a fully reclinable seat that is pretty much the ultimate lazy boy. You hardly feel any bumps on the road and they stop half way at a buffet place where you pay for the weight of the food....

Then there were a few upscale strip clubs with hot girls for takeout (not the American-style bull we know), and I remembered pulling a smoking hot Colombiana (a 10 on my scale) named "Xiomara" from one of those joints to go back to my hotel in Escazu (nicest part of San Jose) for sex (she proposed it LOL). You know she had to be hot as I still remember her name and looks to this very day. She told me I was a "buen polvo" (Colombian Spanish for a "good fuck" hehe). Then too there were the "pensiones" or little casas where you could go and find nice small stables of girls waiting just for you! After the Del Rey closed (its since opened again), a lot of the heavy action moved to Jaco and the Cocal, another "party hotel". And in San Jose the Taormina Hotel eventually filled the void that had been left by the Del Rey in that city. I guess my objection is that your descriptions make the place sound like some sleepy little hamlet or something, and that's definitely not the Costa Rica I knew (again talking pre-pandemic). There were so, so many options, sleepy and on speed! Why, the current population of the San Jose metro area today is about 1. 5 million people. No, that can't compete with Rio in terms of size, but the place is more than large enough and "sex tourist concentrated" enough that you can find some "pace" in Costa Rica if you want to. At least you could pre-pandemic anyway.

The reason why I stopped going to Costa Rica is because I discovered Brazil where the menu suited my sexual appetites so much better. I found Brazilian girls on average to be prettier per my tastes (with lots of them being brancas), sexier, less inhibited (dirtier), and far better in bed skill wise than the average Ticas and Colombianas working in Costa Rica. And when it comes to delivering PSE sex, well I haven't found any country in the world better than Brazil for that, including a penchant for offering anal sex! So if you like taking pretty girls in the ass, then you know Brazil is simply Heaven on this earth LOLOL! Costa Rica (and most places) can't compete. Not even close. Another thing is although it was fairly routine to get BBBJs in Costa Rica, not so much so for CIM. Much, much easier in places like Brazil and Germany for CIM and anal sex. All that said, in my view Costa Rica is still a "permanent monger member nation". Meaning that if you want to call yourself an experienced international monger, then a part of earning your stripes means that you've got to get at least one trip to Costa Rica under your belt.

I agree 100%. In fact, after I started going to Brazil, I never returned to Costa Rica again LOL! My suggestion was just based on if he wanted to try something new by doing a stop in Central America. If that's the case, then Costa Rica would be my pick. Otherwise, I would choose Rio over San Jose every single time (and have ever since I discovered Brazil). Why, I would even choose Germany and its FKK scene over Costa Rica. But in Central America? Costa Rica rules (and you could do much worse)! I don't know why in the world Steve hasn't gone to Rio. It's absolutely essential to go there if you're going to "hobby" in Brazil!

I think one can have fun in Costa Rica for sure. It's a beautiful country. I don't think it's cosmopolitan enough for Steve. San Jose is a small city. If one likes a laidback environment to chill with some girls you will find them. Are they as hot as Brasileiras? No. Are there a lot of girls? Not even close as compared to Rio. There is enough though and with Steve's budget I don't think he will balk for paying for the top Costa Rica talent.

I wrote about a Jaco Beach experience. We ran into a group of five fairly attractive girls at a bar. They were not interested. A few hours later I saw them at the disco and I took one of them home to the Cocal for the night. Some of the other girls in the group went with my buddies. So the girls must have mentally separated "girl time" from later "working time". I guess I can respect the separation.

Steve will figure out what he wants this trip and have a good time either way.

Centro, ipanema and copa are just big tourist traps and so entails a bunch of leftover scum to fester so just keep your eye out.

Barra on the other hand is definitely the more safer area than the rest.

EXAMPLE.

I was walking late at night from Casablanca to my airbnb which was only 6 blocks away around 1 am in copa. I've done this before many times but this time it was pretty dead more than usual. I walked maybe 4 blocks and then I saw two guys coming up behind me and one guy in front walking towards me. I casually walked across the road to the sidewalk on the beach and sure enough these guys were making their move and trying to slowly get me surrounded. So I walk back towards the sidewalk I came from and they follow suit and one said something. It was probably something gay and I, not being of homosexual descent, jogged away from these gay bois and went to the nearest hotel lobby. The guard at the hotel (there is always one in copa hotels) asked me if I was guest and I told him I was not but there were some bad hombres trying to jack me and he actually went out and took a look for me and saw that they were walking around the block still and reassured me that he had my back and got me a taxi. I just had my phone on me and a couple of reais so wouldn't lose much but keeping your head on a swivel and acting fast will do you more good than wearing a football Jersey. Sure I could also not walk at night but I wasnt too far from my place and done this a ton before but if anything just act fast. It's the thinking that gets you in trouble.

Bearsi, great report. This type of comprehensive report should be a Report of Distinction. We can direct newbies there who pop up here with "hey guys, going to Rio in two days. Where are the best girls?

As far as safety, six Copacabana blocks late at night is enough for me to call an Uber. I have had too many strange guys follow me in Copa and had to react in a similar manner. They know that the clubs that draw tourists and know the walking patterns. I'm also cautious in Ipanema. Forget about leaving the front door of Termas 4 x4 at night and walking in Centro. This is just my opinion.

The bad thing about going this route is you HAVE to go to the bus station terminal and buy the ticket directly from the booth because they will not accept foreign credit card, debit or my virgin asshole. This is a real pain for somethings in Brazil. Major institutions don't have the option for foreign transactions so you have to physically go down and do things like this. Luckily there was a deal for the leito cama bus I took for 160 brl. Usually it's about 250 brl. They leave 9 am, noon, 3 pm, 6 pm and mightnight although leito cama rides are only certain times. I would not do the regular bus ride with the regular seats since it's a pretty long trip and the fare is already cheap enough.

GIG is the international airport in Rio so you'll end up here if you fly in or fly out to your country.

SDU is the domestic airport that will take you to and from SP and is closer to the city.

AIRBNB / LOVE HOTEL.

I ended up staying in an Airbnb for my entire stay in rio. I had a nice big room with a washing machine, kitchen and doorman. It was located across the street from monte carlo boate so prime location. Hotels in rio seem to be really small compared to SP and the styling is very dated. I met a member in rio and he stayed at one of the budget hotels in copa and it was tiny room and he was only paying 8 USD less than me. Another member was staying at one of the higher end hotel in copa and it was smaller again than my airbnb. Unless you really need a maid to clean your room everyday, hotel rooms aren't really the best value unless you go to barra where it's decently priced. The one thing I noticed is that all the apartments in rio, the doors lock from the inside. So yea there usually arent any safes in these airbnbs but a girl isn't exactly going to able to steal your stuff without you letting them out first. It does feel a bit weird locking the door when the girl enters, I feel like a straight jeffery dahmer ready to eat some morena coochie.

I would find a place in copa near posto 2 since it's close to Casablanca and dolce vita which I believe are the best little boates in rio where you are suppose to take the girl back to your place. You'll also have access to the beaches and a good amount of bars and restaurants.

There are tons of love motels in copa to pick from as well.

You have lido which is very basic but is down the street from Casablanca or DV.

Hotel vanity is pretty decent.

The best so far is panda hotel but it's a bit far out so a uber ride is needed. Not too far out but you can't just walk there.

There are a ton in copa so if you have reservations of taking a girl to your place just go to one of many love motels in rio.

BEACHES.

If it's your first time I would say check out the beaches whenever you can and soak up the sun.

You can pick up girls in copa but the thing is that some of the girls here are also tourists from other parts of Brazil who are here for the weekend or a quick trip. A buddy chatted up a pretty hot girl from minas and they ended up texting back and forth but she had to leave the next day so he couldn't do anything. She was a civilian as well.

Barra seems to be more locals and I went with 2 other members and we ended up talking to 3 models who were smoking hot. They were with a few guys so no numbers after but definitely a place for hot young locals.

Barra is also safer for your items. I got some chairs on the beach and chatted with the boys and we left to go search for some new gash and we came back to our stuff fully intact. The beach chair guys actually look out for your things.

There was another guy I met that went to ipanema beach for a quick swim and when he came back shore after 5 mins everything but his stupidity was stolen.

GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS.

(I don't remember the pricing so well so don't at me, its been a minute since I've left).

Still one of the best termas in rio.

Cheap entry less than 100 brl.

Rooms are cheap too like 150 brl.

Girls are like 250 brl.

I don't remember all the pricing but all in it's less than 100 USD.

Its best to arrive at 5 pm when it's packed.

I went here every other day while here.

I actually ended coming here on my last day in rio and spent my last hours here before my plane departure.

I had my luggage in the locker room and the lady who gives you your robe and sandals looked after it.

If you come here more than two times the lady in the front remembers you and it becomes an olive garden where "when you're here, you're family".

It's the best value place out of all the major places in rio but the only thing is that after your third visit you end up seeing the same girls over and over again. You start to get bored of the usual line up.

The other thing is that sometimes guys will have a private booth booked and hog all the good girls so that can really make or break your trip there.

This place also has one of the best and most fleshed out menu with drinks and actual food.

Overall still top 3 places in rio.

-SOLARIUM-.

I believe this is the most upscaled place out of all the termas in rio. Not comparable to anything in SP but for rio it's the best you can get.

The girls here are so much nicer, friendly and hotter than any place I've been to thru out all 5 times I've been to rio. The quality is great and you can literally sit and chat with a girl and not be pressured to take them up. I had a buddy talk to a girl for over 2 hours and he ended up taking her but at no point was she trying to get him to go with her or looked annoyed.

The rooms are also pretty clean although pretty cramped. Unlike 4 x4 where you can get a much bigger room, solarium doesn't have that option that I'm aware of. When it's really busy you can also be waiting for a room which sucks but happens in 4 x4 as well.

Every last Monday (or maybe Tuesday I forget LOL) of the month is a big event at solarium. All the girls who work at solarium comes in and the room is filled from wall to wall with the best they have to offer. I think the sushi is extra rsw on this day as well because it smells a little fishy. The entry fee becomes all consumable. In total your spending like 600 brl for entry, one hour with the room. It's a bit pricey compared to other options but honestly I'm usually never disappointed with the line up.

Top 3 for sure.

-MONTE CARLO-.

I ended up only coming here once during my stay and should have went a few more times.

It's one of the lesser visited termas in copa but it's there.

I've been here before during my other trips and it's usually a hit or miss.

Sometimes it's slow and sometimes its got some decent amount of girls.

When I went it had like 8 girls and 3 of them were my type.

I ended up seeing a girl I met during my first trip in rio.

She's a pale blonde carioca with grey eyes so she sticks out LOL if you go to monte carlo you'll know her once you see her.

She's actually pretty popular on seeking and meu patrinho and she's always flying out to europe and all around Brazil and staying at some of the bigger hotels in rio like the copacabana palace.

She remembered me and we went upstairs and had a good time. I ended up asking her questions about where to eat and stuff like that and she was happy to be a tourist advisory LOL.

The rooms are similar to solarium, nice but a bit cramped. I think they have a bigger suite option available tho.

It's worth a look but get there at 5 pm so it's got a good amount of girls. Any later and it will just be you alone with 3 girls. Never seen it fully packed with guys and / or girls.

It's like 500 brl for everything so kinda of a gamble but could pay off.

Idk if I spelled it right but I don't even care to check that's how little I care about this place.

This is the definition of a tourist trap.

Its like 660 brl for one hour, room and entry and that's a lot in rio.

The amount of girls here is usually 15 or so but these girls attitudes make them horrid.

Its like the opposite of solarium. I've been here 3 times during my 5 trips and every single time I was immediately assaulted walking in. Unless you're a high roller you're treated with very little respect. I don't understand how this place is still in business. The rooms aren't even the best. Its bigger than solarium and monte carlo granted but the bed and room are very old looking.

I met one great girl here during my first trip but she stopped working here because even she said it's a real nightmare working there as the girls can be very aggressive and competitive.

The entrance is also not very subtle and is located next to a cafe which is usually busy so you get some side eye going in and out.

I would avoid this place and not waste your money and precious time.

-Dolce Vita-.

This place is one of my new favorite places in rio.

Its the casarao of rio.

It opens around 11 pm and gets busy at midnight.

Alot of americans here so it's very much a US nightclub vibe.

50 brl to enter.

There is a good mix of pros and non pros.

Take out fee I believe was 100 brl.

I met some really great girls here.

I took two pros to the panda love motel for 400 each and they were great but were very much watching the clock which is unfortunate but happens with pros.

Then I took a non pro and at first she said she would go out for 1500 brl and I said 500 and she took that. Her body was an hourglass figure and just crazy. She had a tongue piercing and that really sent me over the edge. Every single lick was pure bliss. Toe curling kind of feel. She got a kick out of that and I would just have her do that for 30 mins and she indulged me. We ended up fucking so hard that the downstair neighbor would tap our floor to quiet us down. Rio isn't really that much dangerous than any other big tourist city.

You can speak in english in rio, there's tons of tourists and americans here, its not a problem.

But if you talk about money or things of value out loud that easily is translated and understood universally as please rob me because I'm an idiot.

Don't have your phone out and glued on it.

Don't flaunt your gold chain or money.

Wear regular clothing and just keep your wits about you and think fast.

Robbers are cowards and they prey on the slow witted and unaware. If you sense or see anything fishy make a move and let your presence be known. They don't want to fight a fully aware person because then their edge is gone.

Centro, ipanema and copa are just big tourist traps and so entails a bunch of leftover scum to fester so just keep your eye out.

Barra on the other hand is definitely the more safer area than the rest.

EXAMPLE.

I was walking late at night from Casablanca to my airbnb which was only 6 blocks away around 1 am in copa. I've done this before many times but this time it was pretty dead more than usual. I walked maybe 4 blocks and then I saw two guys coming up behind me and one guy in front walking towards me. I casually walked across the road to the sidewalk on the beach and sure enough these guys were making their move and trying to slowly get me surrounded. So I walk back towards the sidewalk I came from and they follow suit and one said something. It was probably something gay and I, not being of homosexual descent, jogged away from these gay bois and went to the nearest hotel lobby. The guard at the hotel (there is always one in copa hotels) asked me if I was guest and I told him I was not but there were some bad hombres trying to jack me and he actually went out and took a look for me and saw that they were walking around the block still and reassured me that he had my back and got me a taxi. I just had my phone on me and a couple of reais so wouldn't lose much but keeping your head on a swivel and acting fast will do you more good than wearing a football Jersey. Sure I could also not walk at night but I wasnt too far from my place and done this a ton before but if anything just act fast. It's the thinking that gets you in trouble.

Barra on the other hand I had my Iphone out and wore my expensive sunglasses and no one batted an eye. There's a couple of rich arab guys that come here and they stay here and buy bottles at the beach clubs. It's a big difference and crime still exists but it's more guarded.

Rio is a great place to come and indulge in some sun and cariocas but just know it won't match SP and staying here for a long period can lead you to seeing the same line up over and over again and that can get old real quick. I know some guys live here which is different from staying here for 2-5 weeks. I could see it being a good place to live but for a long vacation you pretty see everything after the first week. There's nothing new after that. For the best rio experience without all the annoyances, check out arrial do cabo or buzios for a real get away (not for girls) better waters and less touristy.

Its a real escape and something new for most.

It's definitely a must stop destination but after awhile it can get old. SP is my new favorite city and will be back there in a few months and will skip Rio altogether.

I'll probably wait a year or two til I go back when new actions come to play.

I agree 100%. In fact, after I started going to Brazil, I never returned to Costa Rica again LOL! My suggestion was just based on if he wanted to try something new by doing a stop in Central America. If that's the case, then Costa Rica would be my pick. Otherwise, I would choose Rio over San Jose every single time (and have ever since I discovered Brazil). Why, I would even choose Germany and its FKK scene over Costa Rica. But in Central America? Costa Rica rules (and you could do much worse)! I don't know why in the world Steve hasn't gone to Rio. It's absolutely essential to go there if you're going to "hobby" in Brazil!

I have a week in So Paulo on business. And a week in Mexico city on business. And the weekend intervening I can go ANYWHERE in south / central America. A few parameters:

I love the club scene when traveling. I have a girl at home so dinners and GFE are standard. So I like to get out and party on the road. So like Scandallo and Casarao etc will def be done. But I can do that during the workweek.

Knowing you a bit, I don't think Rio's mongering club scene will meet your expectations unless you meet a working girl or a Seeking / Facebook girl who you can take to civilian clubs. You might like the civilian nightlife scene in the Lapa neighborhood. Since you seem to have some game and banter, you should try your hand flirting with store clerks and beach bunnies. If you invite a girl to a nice club or restaurant, you will likely warm them up more than if you lechered them up with an offer to go back to your place for a quick bang.

Having said that, I don't know how you feel about the hardcore brothels (as opposed to boates). You can always hit the termas. You can also invite a nice termas girl for an evening out. Some of them appreciate being on a date before jumping into bed.
