I think this is slightly skewed in that instead of "small" women that "tall" women would be preferred in order that the kids be tall or at least maintain the height of the preceeding generation. In order to get the "tighness" inherant in small women that instead younger tall women were used prior to them achieving full height such that these younger girls were tall genetically but not at the current instant of birth of the children.
