Good advice, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm using Anki software for that (which I've been using for years now for other stuff), a deck where I can filter and practice chosen verbs and tenses. Started initially with just an 'I' present tense of most common verbs, then added 'you' (since I found myself using these two the most), then expanding to past, future and plus other verbs and persons. But tracking my progress and retention it seems like it's going to take an awfully long time to learn all the fundamentals (and fluency seems so far ahead it's hardy imaginable), hence some new interest in the English-speaking chicas for LT.

BTW how long did it take you (and other guys feel free to share your experience in as well) to learn the language to satisfactory level?

Also, do Colombians normally study English in schools here as part of standard curriculum, like in high schools or universities?

Okay so you want to make yourself feel better about paying. Truth is there's no reason for anyone young, in shape with looks, game, and decent income to be paying outside of rare occasions. And no you don't "pay one way or another. " Buying someone drinks and a meal doesn't count of course as many of us do that for family and friends. Picking up the tab at the restaurant is just custom on a date, not payment for sex. Plus sex is typically better with someone who wants to have it with you as opposed to those that do it because they were paid.

If you are looking for more normal dating experiences or friendships with a girl that speaks some English, I'd try to look for a girl interested in a language exchange. I've heard about weekly meetups in Poblado and have seen ads about language exchanges on Gringo Paisa (Facebook group for Medellin ex-pats). There are a few Facebook girls that are known for their English (can think of a couple off the top of my head). I can't give you first-hand knowledge about any of these topics, though, as I spoke Spanish fluently before I ever came to Medellin.

Upping your Spanish is definitely going to improve your experience. Also hanging out with non-English speakers is the fastest way to get there once you have a basic level of Spanish. You might want to keep a notebook with you and write down a couple of words your girls are repeating over and over again that you don't understand. Ask her to repeat that word. Put that in your translator or look it up. Try to learn ten to twenty of those words every day you hang out. That approach has worked for me as a way to improve my understanding of other languages.

Based on research that I have done, I think that there are several reasons why Medellin gets more attention on ISG that any other city in the world. It seems to be like the #1 monger destination or at least a top contender.

Several things combine to make Medellin the world's best sex worker destination:

Genetics:

The population is a mix of about 80% Spanish and 20% Native American.

The Spanish were mainly from the Extremadura and Basque areas. Women will generally be about 5'2", European features, dark eyes, dark straight hair shoulder to waist length, light brown to white skin. There are also many recent Venezuelan refugees.

Poverty:

More than 50% of the population in the Medellin metropolitan area is poor, meaning an income of under $90 per month per person.

The youth unemployment rate amounted to 26.44 percent in 2021. The youth unemployment rate refers to the share of the economically active population aged 15 to 24 currently without work but in search of employment. So Medellin offers a vast number of passionate, beautiful and very poor girls which may be unmatched elsewhere.

The only fly in the ointment seems to be the drugging and robbing problem, however that never or almost never happens with a WG. So long as you are paying her for sex, you should be fine. Plus of course stick to low crime areas like El Poblado and don't do anything illegal like buying drugs, selling drugs, pimping out girls, sex with underage girls etc.

Agree with this 100%. I was scoped back in mid November, many of you saw my report at that time.

Backstory.

I like to mix my Medellin trips up with a mix of pros, semi-pros, and non-pros. For the semi-pros I was using Bumble which in my prior experience had Paisas which were looking for more of a normal relationship as opposed to straight P4 P (as is the case with Tinder). It had worked for meeting girls with normal girls in the past, often with free sex and deeper relationships / friendships after 2-3 dates. Anyway, this particular time was scoped at the end of the second date with the girl in my apartment. We never once discussed payment and I didn't even sleep with her. I was making her dinner and she scoped my drink when I stepped out on the balcony to get steaks off of the grill. I was unconscious for 45+ hours and she cleaned me out of 5 k worth of stuff plus passport, credit cards, phone, etc... charged a ton of stuff over the 2 days I was out. Whether it was solopamine or horse tranquilizer I have no idea, but I was down in 10-15 seconds. It was the same week that the kid from California was scoped and killed by the girl he met on Tinder.

Anyway. Abide by all of JBee's rules, even for the regular ones until you get to know them better. There are several stories of guys knowing girls for weeks and even months before getting scoped. You may have the girls whatsapp and FB, but that's it. She can easily drug you, take your stuff, and disappear.

There should be a rogues' gallery of girls who have scoped guys in Colombia in a thread on ISG using girls' photos from facebook, whatsapp, etc.

Some thoughts:

1) I see no reason to 'wife up' with a girl in Medellin, particularly if it's one of your first trips. Plenty of girls this good looking or better that you can source from Facebook or the casas for less and you have the benefit of variety.

2) I personally see no reason to pay a girl for the entire day unless you have some fluency in Spanish, plan to have a lot of sex, and maybe doing a tour (ie Guatape) and having dinner. If this doesn't apply you're going to have an awkward time and will be paying her 10 x Colombian minimum wage to play on her phone all day.

3) For a day I'd say 500 k tops. This girl would be 250 k to 300 k for FS over 1-2 hours and she probably only gets 2-3 mongers a week. I think she'd be fine with 500 k. Of note, the last time I paid full day was back in Sept / Oct when a favorita from Barranquilla joined me at a Santa Marta resort. I paid 350k / day, but covered all other expenses. With sex 3x a day, including once bare back, it was well worth it. For context she has a college degree and makes $650/mth which is apparently quite good. For her, she just had the opportunity to take some nice photos for her 100k IG followers.

4) Whatever you pay, know that it will be more as she'll be with you the ENTIRE day and wanting food, additional clothing, things for her sick grandma, etc. So add 300 k.

Overall I understand how you can say $200 is cheap, but recognize this is not Europe or the US. With the cost of living $200 is closer to $800 in the US give or take and employment prospects much worse.

7 years ago I did cost of living comparisons between Indianapolis and cities in Medellin. Indianapolis has one of the lowest cost of living in the US. I believe it came out that Indianapolis is 151% more expensive than Medellin. That was with an exchange rate of 3000 to 1.

Add in the poverty rate and you're not making a fair comparison. In the US cheap prostitutes tend to be the dregs, drug problems, mental health problems. In Colombia a cheap prostitute is just a normal girl whose major flaw is she lacks initiative. Here $10 is a lot of money. It's roughly 1 days pay for manual labor. $50 is a day's pat for a low level white collar job. $100 is management level daily salary. The President of Colombia earns about 600 k pesos per day and half the people will say he's fucking the entire country.

On that scale, 1 million COP to just fuck 1 guy daily seems a bit high.

Not sure about "most american visitors" being old but personally I didn't consider paying for sex until the girls I wanted to fuck were less than half my age and it was the only way possible to fuck the same type girls I was fucking as a young guy. It does suprise me how many younger guys I see in Medellin and most probably looking for P4 P. Hell I'm in Pattaya now and it shocks me that in the best gogo most young asian guys appear to be about the same age as the girls dancing on stage. So why not learn Spanish? When I was interested to have proper conversations with people in various countries, I learned their languages.

I am learning (damn conjugations are killing me) and fluency is the end goal, but it won't happen next week (nor even next year) so in the so-called meantime it might be fun to get in with some English speaking Colombianas as well (and it could actually help with progress, even if she isn't fluent it might still be beneficial to have a live translator at hand).

When I 'dated', or rather hung out for extended periods of time with some chicas, pretty quickly I reached the limit of my Spanish and then the experience just wasn't too fun, ranging from fkn boring (there is only so much conversation at 6 yo level one can take), frustrating -- when girl is clearly sharing something and I don't understand most of it; or when I want to quickly comment or respond to something, can't find the words and the opportunity passes before I can even start to pull out the translator (too late to make that joke now, the chica with baboon ass already passed or the yellow bird flew away), to feeling like work instead of chill -- both parties sweating their brains and palms translating on the phone back and forth (which is the last thing I feel like doing after a good session).
