Posts: 6239 out of 10 SP hijacks are 'Tinder scams'
The Secretariat of Public Security of São Paulo (SSP) told BBC News Brasil that "more than 90% of the kidnappings registered in São Paulo are made from relationships formed from false profiles created in applications such as Tinder. https://www.bbc.com/portuguese/brasil-63733202.

Posts: 58Read the fine print! Google fi only works for 3 months internationally. Worked great for 3 months and they cut off my data stating a clause that said Fi should but used in the United States. Left me high and dry. Had to get a Claro sim card. Email from Fi stated if I return to US then would reinstate data. I didn't even use a lot of data. About 4 gb a month. Never again!

Posts: 519I agree. I carry multiple CC and debit cards when traveling (stored in a safe location), but I also subscribed to identity theft monitoring (Identity Force) for additional security.

Posts: 1173So is Google FI data or Wi-Fi in Brazil. Since you can't get a Brazilian SIM card in Brazil like Mexico, does google fi give you a new number with data and Wi-Fi. You would be using data in Brazil with google fi. Is that correct.

Posts: 3422They are both close to favelas. Online dating is more dangerous in Medellin.

Posts: 3422It doesn't always work for some reason. Usually these are the merchants that want you to select currency so they can make some money out of it. It seem to work most of the time in smaller city that the currency selection rarely come up.

Posts: 284I concur. Google FI allows me to start communicating as soon as the plane lands on the Runway LOL! Never an issue with WiFi in Airport (GIG) I go straight to the Uber pick up area and catch my ride. Everybody should at least research or try to see if it fits their individual needs. https://fi.google.com/about.

Posts: 2717I love winters in Rio, although I'm probably in minority. It's still warm and sometimes hot, but can be cool and very pleasant in the evenings, plus the beaches are a little less crowded. As for the venues you've mentioned, they have nothing to do with the season. Everything stays open.

Posts: 2717Protection from debit cards sucks. You must be extremely careful and check your account every second day, while credit cards will not hold you liable for any unauthorized transactions. I don't even worry about a credit card fraud, but aside from Schwab (abroad), I never use debit cards if I can help it.

Posts: 18652Well that is not the reason. They rob you because they are robbing you, not because they see you have a certain type of phone. What is the reason that I have not been robbed ever? The only phone I have is a Samsung Note 20 Ultra and it goes everywhere with me.

Posts: 146Yeah mosaico was by far my favorite spot of the trip. They have plenty of variety and I had nothing but good experiences there. My boy pulled a dud but I had 2 different girls who were decent performers that both finished me off with some head game that was next level and they swallowed my kids. And this was for the half hour 150 reals with no additional upcharge.

Posts: 146Yeah that airport wifi sucked ass. I have a Google fi phone for when I travel. I use tge flexible plan and only turn it on the day before I leave the country. I have used it all over the world and never have issues. Very inexpensive.

Posts: 1173I don't bring my iPhone on vacation. I have a beat up Samsung with cracks everywhere for mongering. They will kill you for a iPhone. There is a reason I haven't been robbed in 15 years of mongering. No expensive stuff on display.
