Stuff like socks, liquor, and quite possibly shower heads are to found there at competitive prices. And its a fun place to be for about an hour. Then it gets dark, the shops start to shut down, and then it starts to get nasty. Real nasty.

Yes, there are people selling their bodies in parts of centro. These include skanky addicts, hideous trannies, gays, older broads as well as some girls who are way too young to be on the streets. And I do mean way too young to be doing what they are doing. And you don't want any part of that. In short, what you will see is mostly people (not necessarily female) who couldn't work in a casa the cita and didn't have the means, the brains or the body to work as a prepago. Yes, I have seen a few cute girls in some doorways, but I have always seen better in the options that any first world person can afford. Colombia is full of beautiful women and there is no reason to to screw around with cheap skanks. And then there is the filthy, street scum that spots you and hollers, "Gringo! Gringo!" as they come running after you like a flesh-eating zombie in one of those movies. Apparently they believe you are a walking ATM and will give them money.

Once again, there is no significant mongering scene in Centro nor are there a bunch of prostitutes hanging around Parque Lleras. Really. People who talk about mongering there are living in a fantasy, and a stupid one, at that. Anyone who has ever been to decent brothel in Colombia or hooked up with a decent prepago will know that.

BTW, how are you supposed to dress for Parque Lleras? I'm pretty sure I went to Parque Lleras dressed the same way as I went dressed in centro. I always try to look presentable.

1. Get I Visa in the boat with me. Don't even use the Check Mig url.

2. Make request to I Visa 24 hours before departure.

3. Don't fly to Medellin on a short window. Arrive at the departure city one day early. Buy a refundable ticket. Have the Check Mig form from I Visa, and if something goes wrong ask the Carrier for advice. If it is still a no go. Let the Carrier know you did everything you possible could and ask for a refund. Worst car is I'm stuck in Miami, NYC, Orlando or LAX.

4. Be flexible. If I don't get on the plane to Colombia there is always the DR or Costa Rica. They aren't as great as Colombia but still very good.

5. Consider flying to Colombia from Cancun or Mexico City. If you don't make it to Colombia you are either at a beach or an Alpha world city.

That's a lot of planning for something which takes 3 minutes and which can be done 3 days in advance.

Here's how I do it and I've made it to Colombia on schedule every time.

1. Book my flight to either Medellin or Bogota, usually 2-3 months in advance. I book round-trip, usually, so no hurdles with return tickets.

2. 4 or 5 days before my trip I do a document check, upload my vaccination card, make sure my passport info is correct and start packing (I'm usually working the day before my flight, so I pack in advance).

3. 2 or 3 days before my flight I spend 2-3 minutes filling out the Check-Mig.

4. If I don't get the email confirmation, I check my other email folders. If still no email I return to the CheckMig app and choose the option to download my form.

5. I enter the information, download the form and take a screenshot.

6. Register my completed Check-Mig with my airline.

The form itself is simple and quick. There's no need to panic over it. No need to waste a day sitting in some city and no need to pay someone to do something that takes a few minutes. Relax.

As much as I hate this form it does seem to help when you get to Colombia. I think it does speed things as they don't ask as many questions. This is important as my last three trips to MDE resulted in terrible long lines. All that said it still makes no sense to do the form to leave Colombia. The USA does not ever ask for the form. Only the people at the airport do ask for it sometimes. I am a hard copy guy. It is no problem when I am home as I can print out the form. I just did the form to leave and of course I got no email conformation. With no printer I copy and pasted the form to my e mail Not that long ago Spirit had flights to MDE only from FLL. Now they also go out of MCO. I imagine the other airlines have also added flights so that is the reason it takes about an hour and a half to clear Customs.

Why are you talking about things you know nothing about? You haven't even been in centro (not to mention missed the OP point). The barricades will not impede any of your activities while in Centro unless you drag a very skanky / and or young looking Chica from outside the barricades to go to one of the three Love Motels inside the barricaded area which include Zona Rosa, Botero, and Premium Plaza.
