Sorry this happened to you. If one is on SA long enough, you will invariably get scammed, so it helps to learn from each other's experience.

The most important thing I have learnt in my nearly 10 years on SA is never give an advance. In this case, pay only after the act is over. No genuine person will insist on advance. Walk away if they do.

I have given advances if we have been in a near exclusive relationship for some time (at least 5+ dates) and even then, I have been scammed half the time.
