It really depends on where you are. There's no big city that is considered safe in the world in comparison to smaller cities. It's just a characteristic of urbanization. Tokyo Japan might have lower crime than other big cities but if you compare it to other smaller cities and Japan then it's a lot higher rate. The West zone is safer than the E-Zone in Sao Paulo so I would stay there where there is a lower risk of crime.

CanadaWet, just curious. Other than statistics, why do you feel unsafe in SP? Did something happen? As a fellow Canuck, I felt zero issues while in SP for a week solo, daytime or nightime. And I have been to Thailand.

And what type of food do you eat? SP has many more world class restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc than Pattaya.

I know there are lots reports of pickpocketing and the like in Rio in Copa, but after reading 100's of pages in this thread, haven't really heard too much that SP is something to worry about. While Colombia CTG / MDE / BOG is totally different.

There is one important thing that is missing in your analysis: safety. Here there is a major difference. Pattaya (and Bangkok) is so much safer than Sao Paulo. You can walk around anywhere, anytime and not worry about getting mugged. This makes the environment much more relaxing and enjoyable.

In Pattaya, there is more to do, great food, and most importantly it is much more relaxing due to the safety factor.

ATM machines, if you have a pile of USD cash at home then deposit it in your bank before you leave so you can withdraw as needed at the most competitive rate. You will rarely match that rate at any currency exchange. Especially not in an airport.

I would go to SP strictly to visit Scandallo and Balboa, since Castarao and the clinicas do not have enough spinners for me. To each his own. We both like SP and Pattaya. Taking all the factors together, you prefer SP. I prefer Pattaya. But we will both be visiting both in the future.

And for me Thailand could never ever be better than Brazil because for me from the optics standpoint those little flat ass, flat chested Thai girls can't hold a candle to a banging Braziliera's curvy body! Don't get me wrong, I had an amazing time with the Scandallo girls, and I hope to return soon. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like spinners and I abhor fake asses. I went to Scandallo, Castarao, and many of the clinicas, so I have a sense on what is on offer in SP. I agree that quality has dropped some in Thailand post-COVID, but for me the quality of the average Pattaya gogo girl still easily beats the average SP girl, because almost all the Pattaya gogo girls are spinners. But don't get me wrong, I thought Scandallo was great, and much more enjoyable than the FKKs, which is more of a wham-bam-thank-you-mam experience.

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. For me Brazilian women are leaps and bounds hotter than Thais, amazing fit and luscious bodies hands down no question. Also much better service to be got from Brasileiras. However, for everything else its Thailand over Brazil. The environment is much more conducive to a comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing time which for me as I get older is becoming as important as mongering. In my younger days I would have rated Brazil over Thailand overall but now I'd give Thailand a slight edge.

If you are staying in Jardim Paulistsa, I used Seattle Tourism last time and I got a pretty decent rate that was close to central bank rate. I don't remember what the difference was exactly but I will change this Friday and will report back the rate.

I think there are a few countries that come out tops when it comes to our hobby, and its not hard to put together a top 5 that anyone could make an argument for. Thailand is Disneyland for men sure, but like every destination it has its place. Arguments could be made for Germany, Philippines or Colombia too I am sure. Most of the top destinations are going to offer something that the other places won't or can't, and then we all have our personal preferences on top.

Thailand should be compared to Brazil as a whole though. Pattaya and Bangkok should be compared to Rio and SP. Clubs should be compared to clubs. Not to get territorial or overly autistic at all, I just think that given a lot of people would be seeking information on where to plan a holiday and many have limited time with long flights, its important to be fair in these comparisons. I also think that a lot has changed post Covid, and a lot of guys are getting back on planes and planning their first trips, but the situation on the ground is quite different now and if people are relaying older information then its not going to be that accurate right now.

1. ATM. Bradesco does not charge any foreign transaction fees. Santander charged 23 R for 1000 R withdrawal which was reimbursed by Charles Schwab.

2. Google fi worked perfectly fine.

3. Google translator esp conversation mode was the life savior.

4. Uber was perfect and no issues with any trip.

5. Well received in all Clinicas and in other places of the city. Do problem with Indian ethnicity.

Brooklin Massagens. Visited twice. Andressa is little bulky with Silicone. Very good service and GFE. Yumi perfect body and good service. 330 R.

Prime. Very friendly receptionists. Even the guys hanging out there helped me translate. Took Andressa and great service. 250 R.

Enjoy Spa. Visited twice. 6 8 girls and could not remember their names. Receptionist speaks very good Eng and was helpful by showing photos in phone. Thania. Very good service (best in my lifetime). Livia not a great looker but ok service. No choice as no one else was available. 250 R.

Abbobarra. Tons of girls. May be 15-20. More than 10 were really good. Tough choice to pick. Went with Samantha. Great looker but mediocre service. 350 R.

Tangara. Very old rooms compared to all clinicas. Took Sara. Silicone and mediocre service. 140 R 30 m.

Miruna. Enjoy, miruna and abbobara are walkable. Had only 3 girls and was not impressed.

Bangkok and Pattaya always seemed like Sexual Disneyland to me. A Western male kind of goes there for one reason. That's not a criticism. That's just an observation.

I think some members like just posting up in one location and having everything in one place. Perhaps they also wanted a beach. Before the Help Disco in Rio was closed, Copacabana offered all that.

We're kind of trying to compare a lot of different variables. The aesthetic of Asian beauty versus the more diverse Brazilian looks with some strong Latin and Black influences. Then you have to ask do you want a beach and outdoor activities.

I can say that things in Thailand post Covid are not good at all. Prices are up, service quality is down and girl quality is abysmal it has never been this bad. There might be a few thousand girls to choose from on Walking Street in Pattaya right now, but:

The quality is bad and you are hunting for diamonds.

The top Gogos have hoovered up all the good looking girls, competition for girls is immense now.

The top gogos have drink minimums on top of large bar fines now. High salaries means girls need to sell drinks.

Bar fines are up. They don't want the girls leaving with customers, they want you there drinking to cover salary overhead.

Average total cost is going to be 1500-2000 BRL when you are done and dusted at the better gogos now. This is Pattaya, not Bangkok! These are not just Walking Street prices, this is LK Metro too.

The freelancer clubs are picking up, but rates are up too given rising gogo rates which are resetting the market. Expect to pay between 500 and 750 BRL for a club **** at around 2 am if she is a looker.

Knock shops and beer bars are Clinica prices for a session, and we are swimming in the gutters at this point you might as well be going to VM.

Freelancers off dating apps are the same stock as beer bars and knock shops mostly, similar pricing.

The exclusive BKK gents clubs are not 20 k-30 k baht by the time you are finished. Thats 3500 BRL. Thats what you should be comparting to the clubs in SP. The women in those clubs are the best Thailand has to offer at a price.

I have spent a ton of time in Pattaya. Comparing the whole of Pattaya to Scandallo does a huge disservice to Sao Paulo, the scene there is massive. Its one club in a city full of world class options. Scandallo is like Insomnia, the largest freelancer club.

The quality of the women in Brazil smokes Thailand, its not close. Then when you consider performance, its an even bigger gap. There are some beautiful Thai women, but on average its a different league in Brazil.

Price wise, Scandallo is on the top end and not cheap but the quality is insane. Not just the women, everything about that club is world class. Nothing in Pattaya would match it, and while the high end gentlemen's clubs in Bangkok would push places like Bomboa there is nothing like Scandallo there either. Price wise in BKK these clubs will set you back the same though, easily. Same goes for Thailand as a whole, the cost of sex is not much lower than Brazil anymore and I would say its actually on par.

Don't get me wrong, I have had an amazing time in Pattaya over the years and will still visit. Its great for golf, the hotel options are amazing, a lot of good restaurants, and the best thing about is that everything is concentrated in a few walkable areas, so I can understand the appeal of that compared to Sao Paulo and even Rio. But unless you want to spend all day drinking, it gets old quickly. 4-5 days is plenty in that place, and to be honest its a bit of a dump.

Thanks gents, yes agreed (readers should plan carefully) - to clarify my pie-in-the-sky plans. Would be to visit some "friends" in Bogota (I'm here for the coffee ha) on the way down. On the way back, there's a day time connecting flight via Bog (3 HR layover) which doesn't require YF that I took this trip.

From Avianca (exceptions): "Passengers with a connecting flight or cruise who are not leaving the terminal. The stay in the country must be less than 24 hours. ".

I was surmising that YF worry seems overkill, but I do eventually want to visit some other remote beaches, etc. When I saw the Brazil 2018/2019 YF campaign: 88% male cases, 23% fatality, median age in the 40's, mainly rural workers. Ouch, no joke..

I did it last time last year but it's after I just landed. The girl showed up before I had a chance to get enough cash. I had everything with me at that moment so I didn't want the girl around. I paid her in USD which is more than twice I usually paid her because I know her rent was due the next day. This girl did not contact me again for a week before her money ran out. LOL.
