As promised I took a walk a little later. Firstly, you may see random girls hanging out for a bit but I was unclear whether they were WGs or not. Those girls don't make their intent known but the setup makes them seem like they could be WGs. I'm at least happy to say that I found 2 WGs just down from the Lion Hotel around 2100. They were both able to communicate in English. Probably in mid-late 30's but really not bad considering the circumstances. One was actually very nice and friendly and rather polite. Both quoted 100 Leva (50) and one said an extra 20 Leva for the hotel. The other didn't specify a hotel cost but said she can come to my room or I can go to her hotel. To be honest, either was acceptable to me considering the reports of how dead the place is. Also to say, when it comes to mongering I am not a racist. A pretty Roma girl is fine by me. I couldn't tell if these were Roma as neither looked obviously so, except for a little darker skin which I observed in many Bulgarians. In the end I chose neither. Clearly there is an element of risk involved in going to a hotel recommended by a WG. Although these girls were acceptable, they weren't good enough for me to disable my safeguards. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Pretty girls make you do dumb things.

That being said I spent today doing some reconnaissance on other potential areas. I'll do some after dark surveillance and let you know what I find.

You were wise not to go. They work in teams and you could have been drugged / robbed. 100 lv is 50 Euro's. Far too cheap for a quality girl. 50 Eur doesn't get you far in Sofia living wise, so don't know why a girl would debase themselves for that.

Only action possibility was a 40-something gypsy that approached me on the main drag tonight after midnight. Not sure what she was saying, but it would have been akin to sleeping with a homeless woman. Also, one gypsy 19 yo type girl that walked up and down the strip each night.

In terms of finding non pro girls. Good luck. There are so many 'desperate' men here (like much of Balkans) that stare mercilessly at girls that they have developed effective force-fields. What chance do you have a tourist without the language. Against all the guys here.

Romania used to be better, now it's getting dry but nowhere near as bad as Sofia. If you go to Bucharest stay away from the stripclubs in Lipscani, they are tourist traps. Nimfomane used to be a good guide to which girls are around and what's being offered, but the owner became some kind of pimp and started hiding negative reviews and the like; police and govt also started cracking down on working girls / pimps. There are plenty of clubs and bars around from student digs, to 'pitsy' dives filled with aspiring 'models' (Bamboo and Frateli).

That's the holy truth. Sofia, regardless of some 1,5 M people is small village (as said there malo selo) and some or certain circles of people knows quite well what-how about other they know or heard of them. Lot of times I discovered that a group of girl friends bang around as non-pro / part-time WG's, especially with strangers, either short stay visitors or ones living there.

Just took a walk by Lions Bridge in the afternoon. Took all four streets up for about 2 blocks each. A little grotty in places, but def. No SW's or gypsy anyplace that I saw.

On one corner is the small Peepshow place. Sign says it's open from 23:00 - 05:00. Looks tiny, not sure what that's all about, but made for some good photos.

Also had some great Turkish food. Kaymak clotted cream, bagel simit and honey. Every bit as good as Istanbul.

Having been to 120+ countries there have indeed been some dire, and dry scenes where I did give up. However, after combing through ISG and other boards it appeared in terms of strip clubs there were a few (very few).

Kama Sutra, Cleopatra, Vevet, or something called the 'peepshow bar'?

Just some earlier quotes from ISG:

- I've often had great times at places like Velvet and Cleopatra, very reasonable prices too for girls and drinks and no pressure. That was pre covid though so dunno if they have reopened.
