Not trying to say I know better, not trying to score a point and really not trying to argue but just wanted to pass on info that a surgeon shared with me: Most viruses (including covid) are held in tiny droplets that do indeed easily pass through masks, and there is nothing that stops a person who is exhaling virus from doing just that. The reason masks are helpful is that they slow down the overall breath of exhaled air that the virus floats in, so the particulates don't travel as far as they would unhindered before they land or disperse. This is like putting a towel over a hosepipe nozzle. The same water still comes out and penetrates the towel but it doesn't go as far, which is of some benefit and better than without. Masks don't offer much protection for the wearer but have some benefit to protect those around you at close proximity when indoors because the plumes of exhaled virus are somewhat muffled.

The study cited and hyper-linked in the source I provided was only about per capita murders. Not suicides. In fact, not even limited to gun deaths. Murders.

And if you read the study cited and linked in my post they absolutely compared per capita deaths by murder among various cities and counties led by Dem Mayors vs Repub Mayors, not just by states. And many of those Repub-led cities' murder rates are far higher than those of Dem-led cities.

We always seem to get these self-appointed topic moderators jumping in to demand we all get back on the preferred forum topic after someone pushes back on those loving "red non-liberal state" claims and not the Dem-bashing claims. People get killed by people, not inanimate objects. If someone killed a person with a hammer, you do not say they got killed by a hammer. If someone kills someone using a knife, you do not say they got killed by the knife. If someone was killed by another person driving a car into them, you do not say they were killed by the car. You are dead on point. Now I cannot speak to Thailand. Got my first trip planned for later this year. But I was just in the Disunited States of America for 2 hours and was ready to leave. I completed my business and flew out on a red-eye. Didn't even spend the night. I would not live in the Disunited States of America if they paid me to do it. Too dangerous. My biggest fear is not crime but the police.
