I don't understand why bar owners can't wait until October to open new bars.
It's different if you are taking over an established business but if you are starting a new bar then low season is a good time to open as it gives you time to get set up properly. I have heard stories from bar owners on another board and there's a lot of prep work in opening a bar and once opened there's still more to do as it's never complete. Something else that they might have to deal with is people not working out, the managers, cashiers or mamsan not measuring up or moving on.
Personally, I'm a value driven man when it comes to all aspects of life and so I like to find the sweet spot for quality and value. Most of us coming from the west can be big spenders whilst in Pattaya if we really wanted, but it doesn't appeal to me. Furthermore, like yourself, I travel for months at a time and therefore don't live the two week millionaire life that most Pattaya mongers do.
The great thing about Pattaya is you can spend as little or as much as you want on food, accommodations and women;
I am the same way. Having always been able to get pussy, I just don't put as much value in it as some other guys. I am not going to be overjoyed and 3 times as satisfied by paying 3000 baht to fuck one chick as paying another 1000 baht. Hell, I have a free chick sleeping in my bed right now. I have never met a chick that I have just had to have so I have no problem stepping over to the next. I was DJing in a strip club in high school, so this gogo stuff along with the prices does not excite me at all.
I think we need to get a little deeper into low season before the price of ass drops. At some point in June or July that should come to fruition.
I've stayer at at least ten different hotels in Pattaya over the years and keep tabs on how much they are on Agoda every month. In the last week I've noticed a significant price drop which is a good sign for those of you currently out there and I think by July we'll see another ten percent plus drop.
Unfortunately all that says is the price of a hotel is going down. It says nothing about how much money chicks are going to want to fuck. Not correlated at all. As a matter of fact I would be surprised of a place that you told me hookers used to want more money, now they want less.
Or maybe you are speaking from a purely exchange rate point of view. And if you are, it is not like you will be saving tons if you stay away. 1000 baht at 36 baht per USD is $27.78. 1000 baht at 34 baht per USD is $29.41. Not really worth it to forego a trip because you are waiting to pay $1. 63 less for a hooker.
The market is currently screwed up. Too many bars opened at the tail end of High Season, all employing bargirls who missed most of High Season. Now these bars are suffering and the ladies are bored and poor.
I don't understand why bar owners can't wait until October to open new bars.
Are you saying that bars should only be seasonal? If they open new bars in October as you suggest, what are they to do come May? I can't understand why they would open a bar in the first place. Massage parlor, coffee stand, tattoo shop, weed shop, restaurant, mall, or any of the other things that this place is oversaturated with for that matter.
Actually, I rarely hear about a bargirl who retires to get a real job. Out in the real world, monthly salary for someone who hasn't graduated is 10,000 - 15,000. A bargirl can make that in a 10 day contract.
Most bargirls only retire IF:
They don't have customers.
Get knocked up.
Marry a Farang.
Get a sponsor who demands they leave Pattaya (and checks).
Marry a Thai man with money.
Mother too sick to take care of her kids.
I guess you are looking in the wrong place. Tons of chicks go right back to the farming that they came from. Same as someone going out to Hollywood to make it. It is not fail in Hollywood and become an investment banker or strike it rich in another area instead. It is fail in Hollywood and go back home to the same menial job you came from. Can make and will make are 2 different things.
If covid taught anything at any of these mongering places, I thought it would be that the chicks do not need to be hookers the way many mongers thought. But it seems that couple of years is glanced right over.
This is my mode of operation exactly- but I will say in defense of the big spenders (as we are trying to be non-judgmental and avoid Price Shaming) - it makes sense for a man with deep pockets who exclusively wants the 8+ to come in and pay the Premium at the GoGo. If that's what he wants and can afford it- then there really is no issue in using the money to cut down time on sorting the options. Some people (not myself) also enjoy the atmosphere and circus like party ambience of the GoGo club and will pay premium for this experience as well. But make no mistake, it is the Premium experience and everything that implies.
I'm here 10 weeks or so and like to have sex twice a day so I do things different, let's call it Premium Economy.
I have no problem with the big spenders, to each their own. Personally, I'm a value driven man when it comes to all aspects of life and so I like to find the sweet spot for quality and value. Soi6 is busier the weekends, that's probably why you've seen a good selection yesterday.
During the week days the selection is not as good.
And I don't think they will lower their prices in the next few weeks, they tend to be picky (at least the good looking ones) and are far from being desperate to lower their price tags.

The dollar is also starting to gain strength again against the Baht and I could see that peak point of strength this summer and early fall just as it was last year.
August to September is looking like the sweet spot for me for visiting Thailand.
Yes, there are fewer girls interested in working in the bars as the economy is so good that there's plenty of other work available. Therefore the supply of girls is lower and all the bars are competing for staff, they have to offer bigger salaries to fill the bar and that's sufficient money so that the girls don't need to go with customers unless they want to make a little extra.
