What's the best way to travel around? 3 KM is a bit far to walk. Are there baht buses or the equivalent here? Is Bangkok as walkable as Central Pattaya? What's there to know about visiting and getting around Bangkok specifically that isn't also applicable to Pattaya?

There are no baht buses and you will need to entirely re-learn the lay of the land, so unless you have time to that, I'd probably just stay at the place I know already if sex is my main reason for coming.

It took me some weeks to figure out how to move around here. Yes, taxis are cheap, and distances are not great on the map, but do it wrong and you can spend two hours in a taxi and barely move 5 km.
Just getting a taxi from the wrong side of the road can easily add half an hour to your 45 minute trip.

You need to know how to combine the train system with taxis and motorbike taxis. I'm a motorbikerider myself, but I do not at all enjoy using motorbike taxis here, though they are an unfortunate necessity.

I've been in the Sukhumvit area for a few weeks now and aside from mongering my primary hobby has been people watching.

In places like Terminal 21 and Benchakitti park one sees several Thai female, Frarang male couples. In Pattaya I would immediately assume that the relationship represents a sex tourist and sex worker on an ST / LT or week long procurement but here I wonder how many of these situations are more conventional non or semi-transactional arrangements?

Many of the Thai women are stunning but sometimes a somewhat plain girl will appear on the arm of a man who would clearly shoot higher if he was spending.

Many farangs here are young, good looking long term expats and it's hard to see them choosing sex workers when they probably could get a civilian.

What do experienced Bangkok board members think of this? What is the breakdown of these parings as far as paid relationships or less transactional romances? 50/50 ? 40/60 ?

The sheer number of couples makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong as all I seem to be able to get is the transactional ST / LT which is unfulfilling to me. I have been in this forum for sometime but I have not posted a report thus far. Well, this post somehow connected with my latest experience (s), maybe you might have seen me in Terminal 21. LOL. Firstly, I have no Farang looks, average south east asian brown skinned guy from the SF Bay Area, The Silicon Valley as many people call it or know. My work makes me travel to Asia and Europe, while in Asia I try and keep aside a couple of days or more for personal use (in BKK). I have been doing this since 2010 . I almost always stay at the Hyatt Erawan or The Intercontinental and my only place (s) to venture out were the Spasso's bar (for those of you who know it) and the Mixx bar. Outside of that I had a +66 contact who sent me an exclusive WhatsApp menu of just arrived Eastern European ladies. So my 2-4 days BKK trip was alway pretty well packed.

After COVID, I heard Spasso's closed its 'The after 10 pm gig', so I started looking for similar options elsewhere. Unfortunately, I did not find a similar place anywhere in any of the 5 Star Hotels in BKK. I am all ears if I should know something.

I tend to stay at a hotel near a BTS or MRT station. BTS is easier for beginners becaue you can see it from a distance and it takes you to all the lower sukhumvit sights (e.g., Nana, Cowboy, Soi 24, etc.).

Taxi is cheaper than in western country.

Tuktuk is usually less expensive than taxi and they zig-zag through traffic for a faster journey.

You don't want to spend a little on a taxi. They are cheap in BKK compared to most of the world. If time were not limited get a BTS card and use it.

Looking at some of the reports, seems like a two to three hundred per night is not out of the ordinary. Is that accurate? We are staying near Thermae, and will plan on doing most of the shopping in that area. On an earlier query, it was suggested about 1500 for 20 days, but after seeing bar fines, prices and an a possible trip to Maria, seems like that is a bit on the light side. Thanks for the advice!

This all depends on what you're doing. Are you getting girls every day or even multiple girls a day? Are you doing high end restaurants? Are you drinking a lot? Are you going to get conned into buying lady drinks at gogos? Are you trying to BF high end girls or low. Are you going to stay at a high end hotel?

You can go to an MP and pay 2000-2500 baht for 2 hours of time. You can get a streetwalker for ST or LT for a variety of prices. You can go to high end clubs or escorts and pay much much more.

I agree with you, being Caucasian gets you farther in Thailand when it comes to the ladies. I'm not Caucasian but that's my opinion based on observations. It's simple, Asian girls love Caucasian dudes.

As far as your Cavill comment, yes, if a girl finds you attractive she'll see you as being confident for approaching her. If she finds she unattractive she'll see you as being a creep.
