I would agree. You have to look in the mirror and have an understanding of the situation. I am older, late 50's, average looks. When a young attractive girl, 18-20, is chatting with me and interested in meeting with me, it is common sense to think that she is interested in trying to make money with me. Now, it is possible when I talk to older women late 20's, early 30's and up, that there might be a woman that is interested in regular dating but that would be the exception and not the rule. When you read these stories of older average looking men going out with young attractive women, and then it ends badly, you almost always think, well, wasn't it obvious that she was only interested in him because of the money and she had a local young boyfriend on the side? I think about the older American guy arrested for killing his much younger DJ "girlfriend". So for me, I just make it simple and ask about the money even when the girl is chatting for a while, saying how she really likes me and wants to meet, and maybe 5% of the time, the girl says she doesn't want any money. So far, I have not meet any of those girls because they are not as attractive as the other girls or when it is time to meet, they ghost me.

I am just trying to enjoy my vacations in Medellin with young attractive women who are interested in entertaining me for a reasonable price that makes everyone happy.

Posts: 6736Lead with a discussion of money and you create a prostitute when you could have a non pro experience. And everyone can indeed make their choice.
Anybody figure out that the girl is also taking the chance that she will not get what she wants if a money discussion about it does not occur. In my opinion, the girl is taking the risk. Because if the man holds frame after the sex occurs, gives what he wants then tells her to get the fuck out, no problems.
Information is power. Incomplete knowledge is useless. Action trumps everything.

The stuff you wear, the stuff you post on social media. How many followers you got. There's a lot of ways to determine someone social class without knowing them.

Yup. It's just the length of time. Like the wise osteoknot said back in the day "we all pay for it somehow at the end of the day".

Like she has to like how you look, and she has to trust that you can provide and protect and you have to act all dominant, and at the end of the day you have to pay for her shit. You're still paying for all her shit and you have to do all that other stuff. But what's crazy is that with having a girlfriend she decides whether she'll have sex with you. But at that point if there's no sex I'm leaving.
I will say though, that finding a girlfriend that actually gives you sex, is feminine and is submissive is way easier here in Colombia than it is in the us. It's kinda crazy. I'm an engineer. Here I make a doctors salary basically I'm in the 1% and almost everyone here is low income class so girls are just drawn to me. My looks are average. But in the us. I'm in the top 10%. Girls won't even look at me. Not the 7+ in looks at least. Truly everything revolves around money. Girls that look good in the us know that they can get someone in the top 1% so they don't care about anything else.
Something else that makes finding a really hot girlfriend difficult is that now any 7+ can be scooped up and flown out because of social media. So even finding one is difficult but if you do find one, she probs won't talk to you because she knows she can get men in the top 1% world wide.
Finding girlfriends even in Medellin is getting more difficult by the day especially if she's hot.
So what's the course of action? Get rich and acquire status. That's solves every material problem. Want a hot girl? No problem you can pay 1 k 2 k an hour. Want a 7 GF? No problem you can pay 100 k a year for her lifestyle. If that's not the play, I guess you're going to la isla and gustos getting their WhatsApp and praying to god they accept 400 k or less for an hour or be happy with the 4-5 you found in centro.
Either way, inflation is real and money solves everything.
Hax.

Posts: 19I think renting and living in Laureles or Estadio gives much better value, compared to Parque lleras and El Poblado, even if some say it's lower quality, it's really not. I would say prices are lower since the market is for colombian middle class. And with currently low exchange rate for the peso at 4000 to the dollar (,even if it was up almost to 5000, that could not last), it's a good time to go. At La 70, Avenida 70, you have La UPB, which have good Spanish courses, or at Estadio, close to Exito Colombia and the Giradot Estadio, there are Bodytech which resides also at "el cafetero" near Andreas Escobar Sports Park (who was killed 94 after he made a self-goal at the USA soccer WC) , if you go to Bodytech or another top-class gym there will be many more hot chics than you ever see at any club!

Use Mileroticos and look for Laureles, the girls there charge less than El Poblado girls, but it's the same thing!
Connect with local guys, in private they give you some very good advice, where to go, where few gringos ever go!
You need basic Spanish, that will do!
IMHO they expect local guys, they are not really prepared to overprice you with a gringo-premium like the girls at the top-class clubs, El Poblado or Parque Lleras.
If you meet some colombian guys they can recommend you even more economical, and more authentic places. In there company you will be safe, you will just use common sense and everything will be just fine! If they are descent people with descent professions, they are very unlikely to do you any harm.
1st world People spend to much money just to avoid just a little bit of normality, and that is just not worth the price.

Posts: 4405There are many youtube videos. Watch a couple and see what you think. It's all very colorful. The Reader's Digest description I can offer is a holiday parade with a large throng of specatators. This being Colombia, be prepared to surrender any hint of personal space. I attended it once, years ago. If you have a day to kill it's a nice alternative to the usual day trip to Guatape.

I guess another point is that this is a different experience that is not something that one can just buy directly.

Posts: 4405You are right about the real estate situation. I think it's because real estate taxes aren't a thing below the top tier of property values, so there isn't a big rush to rent or sell vacant properties in Latin America. In Colombia, I think the overriding factor is personal finance services are what they used to be in the late 80's in more developed countries. It's still a cash and reputation economy here. Check out the ATM lines near the 1st and 15th of every month to see Colombians do at ATMs what we do from our phones. They check their balances, they ponder which bills to pay, they deduct cash, and they pay some of their bills, all while a long line of other people are waiting to do the same thing. You quickly learn to stay away from ATMs around the 1st and 15th. Property owners prefer will wait as long as it takes until they get the price they think they should get, and it has to be backed up by what they consider to be a qualified co-signer if it's a rental. Some of us are old enough to remember having to answer questions like "where are you from" or "what line of work are you in" to rent or apply for mortgages. Nowdays of course it's just a matter of providing financial records and references for rentals. Like with everything else here, we have a big advantage in real estate transactions because most of us can come up with the cash we we need to.

Posts: 1173Gustos is some weird place where all the girls are weather beaten and wear a ton of makeup, and then get together and charge 250 or 300 dollars. It would be like us mongers getting together and charging all swimsuit models 200 bucks for sex and not budging. LOL.

Posts: 101I'd say to read the past few pages of this thread, but it gets sidetracked from time to time. So what's better for a noob is to read through the "Reports of Distinction" section on the Colombia main page. Good luck. I'm taking my second trip to Medellin in November, sorry our paths won't meet up.
