Girl says I should give her 800 because that's what most men give her, she has family to take care of and will accept nothing less.

Spent the weekend in SJ. Had some success with dating apps. Sportsman hotel was nice but girls a bit pricey. Hotel Del Rey provided a night (or two) of entertainment. Plenty of nice girls to chat to and if one takes your fancy for US $100 will go to your nearby hotel or a cheap short stay hotel across the road.

Posts: 13Does this Rebecca still work?
I met this girl last year at Taormina. Lost contact info and didn't see here there recently. Anyone seen her at a different location?

Posts: 13Clubs like Alcazar, Pantera Rosa
I went to these clubs a few times. They are basically strip clubs with rooms upstairs for sex. If you're here for a quick vacation and don't speak Spanish, maybe the usual hotels are better, but if you want to try something else, these clubs can be interesting. In the main room, you can pay for drinks for the girls, to have them sit with / on you. So you can have some physical contact before deciding if you want more.
Alcazar: Cover: 5000 CRC, drinks for girls: 5000 CRC. 1/2 hour in room: 33 K.
Pantera Rosa: Cover: 5000. Drinks: 6000 or 12000 (for lap dance). 1/2 hour private: 32 K (I think). Rooms at Pantera Rosa are just a massage table. They had others with beds, and bathrooms, but they were asking alot more money for those.
I also went to Tango India and Elite, but they had higher cover changes and absurdly high prices for sex in the private rooms. I'm not sure what's going on there. I don't plan on returning. Tango India had 2 K CRC lap dances.
Some others on map I haven't checked out yet.

Posts: 36I was disappointed to see that the plaque that used to hang on the wall beside the lobby bar commemorating the founders of the HDR is no longer there. At least there were about a half dozen girls at each bar though. Without the casino though, I just don't see it having much chance of picking up much further.

Posts: 846I have been told by a former HDR employee that there was an agreement that Gabby would continue to run the hotel operation, dismal as it may be.

Seems like the true end of an era. Long live Big John! Long live the Hotel del Rey!

Posts: 1261There are / were others involved in the ownership as well. And the place has been slow on paying taxes, etc. So it seems unlikely that anyone will be salvaging it to be the place it was.

Posts: 1261Centro area. Basically referring to the area between and around Del Rey, Sportsmens, Taoromina. But downtown in general where there are those places where gringos tend to hang out for hookers.

I see occasional references to Gringo Gulch.
What area would be considered Gringo Gulch? Where?
TIA.

Posts: 8I travel to CR every year and a half or so and seem to find fewer and fewer Colombianas with each visit. Maybe due in part to the uptick in mongering in Colombia. Lots of gringos down there these days. I can't image it would be worth it for the chicas to trek it all the way up to CR when they can stay closer to home. I had one during my last visit but she immigrated to CR as a teen after her mother married a Tico. Not sure what everyone else's experience has been over the years but I feel like I'm seeing fewer girls from other countries in Central and South America than in years past with a noticeably higher percentage of Ticas (especially post COVID). I'll be returning in a few months after an almost two year hiatus and curious to see if anything has changed.

Planning a trip to SAN JOSE in two weeks and it's been several years since I visited. Just curious if the Colombian ladies are still working in San José and Jaco. Always found a 9 on most of my trips.
Appreciate.

Received a report that American John has passed and was buried recently. The report said that ownership would turn over to his family, who reported new things to come.
Sad to hear of his passing; he had a storied life for many years! Me and my wingman were fortunate to have stayed in the " owners suite" several years ago when John was out of the country.
