It's weird how from time to time someone here would say they miss this and that about Thailand, and how it used to be, such and such place was awesome, but now it's gone, etc. It's interesting in the sense that when you think about*it, it's always brought up by someone, every year, all the time, for years, giving the impression that the best of a mongering destination is always in the past, never in the present. I do that too sometimes, especially with my experiences in Prague, but I'd venture to say someone new to Prague now, if they have a positive experience would say it's the best place ever, etc. And when said person goes back 5 years from now, might not find it the 'same', hence to said person, feels like it's kinda downhill. In the same way that for someone who experienced Prague in the 90's or early 2000's would be disappointed by it if they went the same time I did back in the early 2010's. Yet for me it was mind blowing. For me though, the last few trips to Bangkok I've had, spread across 30 years, the experiences got better with*each trip. But for me it's because I changed my gameplan for each trip. Yes, there might be a place or two I miss about Bangkok as well, but compared to many hobbying destinations around the world, I'd dare say Bangkok always surprises me with the new places that pop up, as opposed to many european destinations where most establishments are closing shop. The only thing that everyone has right about the past, is yes, it was absolutely cheaper and way more affordable then, even with inflation factored in. There's no way around that, everything is just pricey these days. Kinda ridiculously so. I'm old now, and I feel for younger people, the world they are inheriting. We really fucked shit up for them. It's not just Bangkok, but see a huge uptick in the US as well. Many agencies now advertising and with the upcharge the girls are cashing in. I used to live in Bangkok during the glory days of Nataree. Those were incredible times, I was there multiple times every week and the selection was abundant and never ending.
