They're starting to ask the girls to have the guys bring them back down when they're done. Girl told me it's because of an incident with a Lleras girl that scoped a guy and robbed him then left.

On my first night I brought a girl back down and left with her (separate directions) and security didn't see so they Whatsapped me to see if the girl had left.

I appreciate this added level of security, and it is one of the reasons why I pay extra to stay at Energy.

This is becoming a norm amongst many of the Hi rise condos in poblado. Last Teo I stayed at the girl even told me when they arrived "you have to escort me down when I leave" more then happy to have this policy. Even more fun to give Hi fives to security knowing I smashed a smoke show.

For me this advice is very interesting. Because I spend most of my time in the Dominican Republic and there is is a very real risk that if you do not know how much something should cost you will not be quoted the correct amount. Although I have very little experience in Colombia, I am in business there and my business partner makes sure we are not overpaying on operational cost and capital expenditures. But even in stores, restaurants and the streets I have found the individuals running those business to be fair and have not engaged in price gouging. How do I know? I check with my business partner afterwards. And so far I have gotten confirmation that the amounts I paid for the item or service was a fair market price.

I never said that I thought your advice was unsound. But I still don't see the need for a Colombian number unless I need to make outgoing calls. Then I will just add another E-sim to my iPhone 14 Pro Max 512 GB and and turn it on and off when I am in Colombia. The same way I do for my number I use in the Dominican Republic.

That is a good point. I keep spare SIMs I can activate via the carrier web site. I've been lucky to not have to use them so far. I once though I lost a phone but found it in my apartment right after I activated a spare SIM. Once I switched the newly activated SIM with the one I had been using my original phone was up and working again like my senior moment never happened.

The downside to a USA phone with International service in Colombia is if its lost or stolen and the issues associated with out it, such as no two step verification, no Whatsapp, etc.

This is the risk I see for those who use them here, however for those here for short periods of time and are smart with their phones it should not be an issue, in other words keep it hidden whenever you can as if it disappears your hosed.

Seems like some like to only roll with a Colombian number here, or only a USA number, and some with both, with seems to be the ideal situation as you mention.
