I prefer a pimp more for a convenience point of view than anything. I have to pay the same with pimp or without pimp. But having a reliable pimp is very stress free, no trouble from hijras, chanda collectors, cops or street walkers if you are with a pimp. He takes care of everything. I have been to SG multiple times but have no idea where the buildings are, don't want to be roaming around with navigation on on my phone.

But as you said your understanding with your pimp is most important. I have been to SG around 30-40 times, everytime with the same pimp barring a couple of times when he had gone to his village. He understands my choices and requirements completely and shows me around that way. In SG pimp is mainly for safety inside SG and during exit. Particularly late nights and safeguard in a difficult situation. Thereafter comes the building covered by the pimp and if he can deliver as per specific requirement or else generally they take to a mindless tour so many buildings. You should focus on your safety & your needs & your comfort level with thr pimp and not on the internal matters of the pimp community.
