No issues, feel as comfortable using my credit cards in Mexico as I do in the US at this point. Still very anxious about ATMs though. In 10+ years have yet to use a debit card on the Mexico side, to the point where I actually cross back over the border and use the ATM next to the McDonald's in San Ysidro in the rare case that I need extra cash.

Why are you anxious about using DEBIT cards at Bank ATM machines?

I go to calimax grocery store and use the HSBC bank ATM inside the store. Works very well and is as secure as USA.

They charge $4 fee but by Schwab bank rebates me the fee. Schwab ATM cards also provide the best exchange rates.

Finally ATM cards with Schwab can be turned on / off via their website or AP; so you do not need to keep your card 'ON' at all times. Lock it after use.

You also get a text after each withdrawal. So once again that gives you some control / peace of mind.

Yes, this has been my experience as well. Used credit cards in a bunch of different restaurants, bars, and OXXOs all around Tijuana over the years and never had a problem. Though as far as the chica clubs and affiliated hotels I've only used my cards at Cascadas. No issues, feel as comfortable using my credit cards in Mexico as I do in the US at this point. Same here. I've been to a lot of different parts of Mexico and even the small ranch towns. Never had an issue. Only issues have been with policia due to me speeding. Surprisingly I've been all over the world and never had a credit card issue except in the USA Surprise surprise, who would have thought it wasn't safe to use your card in the USA? The good thing is to always use your credit card as you can dispute the charge unlike a debit card that drains your checking account. Always use a Schwab account when traveling and keep minimal in it and transfer from another bank into the Schwab when funds are low. Schwab reimburses the ATM fees.
