I don't know why you feel compelled to say the polls are fixed. The latest one out is a CNN poll that shows Trump ahead by 1%. CNN is anti Trump, anti Republican, and pro Democrat.

    https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/07/polit...ump/index.html

You sound like Republicans who used to say the polls were rigged, because Republicans always outperformed the polls in elections, especially the mid terms. The reason wasn't because the polls were wrong. It was because Republicans were more motivated to actually go out and vote.

Well, that's not the case any more, as you can clearly see if you look at the 2022 results and the 2021 Georgia Senate runoffs. Democrats did much better than the polls predicted. Democrats are mad as hell. So are the majority of independents. They believe Trump tried to steal an election, and they're going to to the polls in larger numbers than Republicans. For better or worse, you have little to worry about if it's Trump vs. Biden. Biden will outperform the polls and probably win.

And don't get me started on the vax shit. Why am I seeing so many cases of Covid now if the vax worked?

So what was the fucking purpose of all these lockdowns? I said multiple times on here how much of this was bullshit while the Democratic douches swallowed it all up. Not only do these arrogant pricks still think they were right, you guys got like Tooms saying the whole thing was Trump's fault. He is so dumb he doesn't ask the big question: why the fuck were there lockdowns at all with a virus with a mortality rate similar to the flu?

In my opinion, there were lockdowns because assholes like Fauci wanted to show they had power. Period. You talk about a rich man North of Richmond and that is definitely fucking Fauci.

And who is a rich man and not on the take? Trump, and that is why he was voted in. Call him a narcissist, a liar, a showboat stupid ETC. That is their right, and it may be partially true, but the one thing Trump is not is corrupt. He has enough money such that no one owns him.

Isn't it obvious by now that the Ukrainian oligarchs bribed the Biden family including Joe? And you mean to tell me those billions being sent to Ukraine aren't being sent in part to keep those oligarchs quiet? This is the kind of corruption that Oliver Anthony was singing about. We got Biden sending billions to Ukraine because his family got millions. How is this okay?

"I wish politicians would look out for miners And not just minors on an island somewhere. ".

You got government with unlimited funds going after Epstein while screwing over the working man. There is billions for Ukraine but for America's crumbling cities? Fuck them!

The Democratic douches still do not get it. We are sick of legacy politics. Why the fuck is Chelsea Clinton worth $250 million? Isn't anyone paying her doing so for political influence? Why did so many elections have a Bush or Clinton in them and the media announce one of them is the front runner?

Voting for Trump was a middle finger to the rich men North of Richmond, and the Democratic douches do not get that. They are okay with egotistical power hungry bureaucrats like Fauci and pols who take bribes like the Bidens do.
OK Elvis, I agree with you about lockdowns. Oliver Anthony who wrote and sings Rich Men North of Richmond probably isn't a Trump admirer. I suspect he's a classical liberal, like me. However, yes, I agree, voting for Trump was a middle finger to the Washington elite.

As to COVID, you live in the Free State of Texas. How many people had to pay a fine for failing to wear a mask in Texas? Maybe a handful? As I recall, there was no fine for a first offense, and nobody was keeping a record of offenders. Abbott opened the state back up on May 1, admittedly with reduced capacity for stores and restaurants. Well, if I were to add up all the time I spent standing in line to get into the HEB, the home depot, restaurants because of capacity limitations, etc. , I bet it wouldn't add up to over two hours. It was probably less. Nobody had to get a vaccine here, unless you worked for the federal government, or you wanted to travel. And the requirement for travel was imposed by foreign governments, not by the USA for returning nationals.

Compare that to other states and other countries. I bet Tooms didn't step foot outside of Thailand, and for good reason. He would have had to spend weeks in quarantine when he came back.

And if those other states and countries wanted to impose lockdowns and vaccine and mask mandates, well, more power to them. Isn't that the point of our federal government? We should lead our lives the way we want here, in The Great State of Texas, and the Peoples Republic of California should have the right to pursue its own path.

Masks didn't bother me. They were like wearing safety belts. If Obama and Trump hadn't let our stocks of N95 masks run down, maybe people could have been given them at the outset of the pandemic, and we could have gotten on with life. I likely can come up with two population studies that show they worked for every one you can find that said they didn't. And if you look at experimental studies, like putting surgical mask material between cages of infected and uninfected hamsters, they show they work. As do studies comparing health care workers who did and didn't wear good quality masks when treating coronavirus patients. And studies involving the physics, chemistry and biology of droplets, aerosols and the virus. The problem was that the majority of transmission occurred in the home, and people didn't wear masks at home. That and people were wearing poor quality masks improperly.

Similarly, the vaccines worked initially to prevent the disease, and later to significantly lower the probability of hospitalization and death from COVID among vulnerable populations. I haven't seen any study that would contradict that, that isn't bull shit, and I've looked at a lot.

Finally, as to Abbott's lockdown, what was he supposed to do? You had the elderly dying and hospitals overloaded in Wuhan, Italy and New York. He didn't have a choice. And he reopened at first opportunity. We only lost about a month and a half here. Compare to much of the rest of the world where the lockdowns, quarantines and travel restrictions went on endlessly.

I agree with you about a lot, but not about this. We here in God's Country (Texas) have nothing to complain about.

    By Bret Stephens.

    Opinion Columnist.

Unemployment is near historic lows, and inflation has come way down. We are inflicting a strategic humiliation on Russia by arming Ukraine without putting American forces at risk. The homicide rate fell by about 10 percent across 30 cities compared with last year. Democrats defied electoral trends by holding the Senate, scoring major legislative victories and easily confirming a Supreme Court nominee.

Why, then, do only 20 percent of voters rate the economy as "excellent" or "good," versus 49 percent who call it "poor," according to a New York Times / Siena poll? Why are Americans overwhelmingly pessimistic about the country's future, according to the Pew Research Center? Why does Gallup find a significantly smaller percentage of Americans have confidence in the presidency today than they did in the last, disastrous year of Donald Trump's tenure? And why is President Biden polling dead even with his predecessor in multiple surveys despite the former president's 91 felony charges?

How to Beat Trump in a World Where Indictments Actually Help Him.

    Aug. 10,2023.

In short, with everything so great, why are people so down? That's a question that, as The Times's Reid Epstein wrote last week, stumps the White House and its political allies, who seem to think the problem is a failure to communicate all the good news.

    SKIP ADVERTISEMENT.

But there's another explanation: The news isn't all that good. Americans are unsettled by things that are not always visible in headlines or statistics but are easy enough to see.

Easy to see is the average price of a dozen eggs: up 38 percent between January 2022 and May of this year. And white bread: up 25 percent. And a whole chicken: up 18 percent. As for the retail price of gasoline, it's up 63 percent since January 2021, the month Biden became president.

Yet none of these increases make it into what economists call the core rate of inflation, which excludes food and energy. The inflation ordinary people experience in everyday life is not the one the government prefers to highlight.

Easy to see is the frequent collapse of public order on American streets. In April hundreds of teenagers wreaked havoc in the Chicago Loop. Two boys were shot. A young couple was beaten by the doorway of a building on North Wabash. Yet only 16 people were arrested. Similar scenes unfolded last month in New York's Union Square and again in Boston, where police officers were assaulted in two separate riots largely by juveniles.

In New York, there were at least 66 arrests. In Boston, just 13.

Easy to see is that the kids are not alright. The causes are many; social media companies have a lot to answer for. But so do teachers' unions, handmaids of the Democratic Party, who pushed to keep school doors closed during the pandemic, helping themselves while doing lasting harm to children. The Biden administration spent much of its early months saying it wanted more than half of schools open at least one day per week by the 100th day of his presidency.

"It is a goal so modest and lacking in ambition as to be almost meaningless," Politico's Playbook newsletter noted at the time.

Easy to see is that the border crisis has become a national one. In May the administration boasted that new policies had contributed to a sharp decline in the "number of encounters" between border patrols and migrants crossing the southwestern border illegally. By August, arrests of migrants who crossed the border with family members had hit a monthly record of 91,000. In New York City alone, more than 57,000 migrants seek food and shelter from the city's social services on an average night.

Nobody can say for certain how many migrants who crossed the border during Biden's presidency remain in the USA, but it's almost certainly in the millions. In 2021 the president dismissed the initial surge of migrants as merely seasonal. "Happens every year," he said.

Easy to see is that the world has gotten more dangerous under Biden's watch. The president deserves credit for arming Ukraine, as he does for brokering a strategic rapprochement between Japan and South Korea. But he also deserves the blame for a humiliating Afghanistan withdrawal that almost surely played a part in enticing Vladimir Putin into launching his invasion of Ukraine and whetted Beijing's appetite for Taiwan.

How large a part is unquantifiable. Yet it was predictable and predicted.

Easy to see is that the president is not young for his age. The stiff gait and the occasional falls. The apparent dozing off. The times he draws a blank or struggles to complete a thought. Yet the same people yelling #ResignFeinstein or #ResignMcConnell don't appear to be especially vocal when it comes to the president's fitness, as if noting the obvious risks repeating a Republican talking point.

But people notice, and they vote.

Easy to see are tents under overpasses, from the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in New York to the I-5 in Seattle. And the zombified addicts passed out on sidewalks in practically every city and town. And the pharmacies with everyday items under lock and key to prevent shoplifting. And women with infants strapped to their backs, hawking candy or gum at busy intersections. And news reports of brazen car thefts, which have skyrocketed this year.

"There is a great deal of ruin in a nation," Adam Smith said. Not all the ruin mentioned above is Biden's fault, and none of it is irreversible. But there's much more ruin than his apologists blinkered by selective statistics and too confident about the president's chances next year care to admit.
14 months out, plenty of time left to focus voter attention on real issues, rabid Trump cultists are answering their phones and racing to respond to polls like never before, no doubt over sampling their mindset in many polls.

So for now we have the consensus of demonstrably Winger-leaning RealClearPolitics polling service on the hypothetical one-on-one head-to-head with Biden vs either of the two most likely Repub Loon candidates.

See pics below and here is the link:

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/

There has not yet been a Biden vs Repub Loon debate, if any Repub Loon dares to appear opposite Biden or any other Dem with a tough, no BS moderator at the desk that is, which I recall the Repub Party proposing their candidates should avoid at all costs from now on.

Any public appearance of Biden vs Any Repub Loon will likely shock many Dem voters and virtually all Repub Loon voters into the realization that, contrary to much pro Repub media and punditry, Joe Biden is not suffering from senility, dementia, cognitive impairment, is not an imposter pretending to be Joe Biden, does in fact have a clear and lucid mastery of the most important issues and what is best to do about them while whatever Repub Loon dares to appear opposite him hasn't got a clue.

    The same as in 2020.

And while we're at it, without Democratic presidents, there would have been no slavery, no Civil War, no persecution of blacks in the South, no American involvement or American deaths in World War I, World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War, no nuclear bomb dropped on Japan, no internment of Japanese Americans in prison camps, no American hostages in Iran, no recessions in 1833,1836, 1839,1845, 1847,1853, 1857,1860, 1887,1893, 1896,1913, 1937,1945, 1949, or 1980, and no record setting inflation in 1980. And most important, our country would never have been humiliated by our president, the leader of the free world, getting blow jobs from a chubby intern.
