I just returned from my annual five weeks of work in Brazil where I was in and out of Rio on three occasions and squeezed in a number of great sessions with the usual amazing Rio girls. Regarding logistics, Rua San Jose 35 is the centro bus station with a luxury a / see bus (2338) to Barra for 20 r if you don't live in a condo with a shuttle, which I do not (eg, mediterraneo, riviera, novo leblon, barra bali). Literally goes straight to Paris Cafe, and Recreio. The city bus is 315. The BRT line on av das americas goes to metro jardim oceanico.

Now, I know, for most mongers who read this, this is a non starter.

Barra is too far from all the main termas in copa and centro. I went to the main club in Barra and left. I didn't see anything good there.
